As the seasons change, it is worth taking a few minutes to check how your windows and doors are performing.

Here are the signs that it might be time to get them looked at:
🪟 Misting or condensation between the panes - this means the unit seal has failed and the glass needs replacing.
🪟 Draughts around frames or doors - poor seals and ageing frames let in cold air and push up heating bills.
🪟 Difficulty opening or closing - hinges, handles and locking mechanisms wear over time and can become a security risk.
🪟 Visible damage to frames, seals or sills - left untreated, small issues become bigger and more costly ones.

September is here. The mornings are getting cooler, the evenings are drawing in and autumn is well and truly on its way.

For anyone with a glazing project still on the list for 2026, this is genuinely the last realistic month to get things ordered and installed before winter arrives.

To finish the month on a high - this Origin OB49 French door with OW70 sidelights is a really special one.

Finished in RAL 8022 Schwarts Braun externally and RAL 7015 Slate Grey internally with stainless steel hardware, the dual colour specification gives it a depth and sophistication that a single colour simply would not achieve.

The dark external finish sits beautifully against the red brick and the sidelights give the whole opening a real sense of scale.

A great project to end August on - and a reminder of just how much impact the right door can make.

When you are choosing someone to replace your windows or doors, price is only one part of the picture. FENSA registration, deposit protection through the CPA, manufacturer guarantees and a track record in the local area all matter just as much - if not more.

Timber windows are beautiful, but they come with maintenance commitments that not everyone has the time or budget for.

Modern timber alternative systems have closed the gap significantly - offering the warmth and character of timber aesthetically while requiring a fraction of the upkeep.

For period properties, rural homes and barn conversions where a timber look is important but practicality matters, these systems are well worth considering.

This is a project we are particularly proud of. An Origin OB36+ French door with flag windows either side, all finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey with antique brass knurled hardware.

The combination of the dark frame, the large expanse of glass and that antique brass hardware is seriously striking - it has completely transformed the rear of this property.

The flag windows flanking the door give it a real architectural quality that you just would not get with a standard French door on its own. A brilliant result.

Composite doors have become one of the most popular front door choices in the UK and it is not hard to see why.

They are incredibly low maintenance, thermally efficient, available in a huge range of styles and colours, and genuinely secure. Unlike timber they do not warp, swell or need repainting. Unlike uPVC they do not look cheap.

If your front door is overdue an upgrade, a composite is almost always the right answer. Come and have a look at what is available - the options have come a long way.
