Traditional strong weave for general purpose applications.

Uses: backpacks, bags, dog leashes, belts etc

• Breaking Strength – 750KG.
• Elongation – Up to 25% at breaking point.
• Abrasion - Good resistance.
• Moisture - Not effected by moisture and will float.
• Temperature - Melting point is 160 degrees celsius, not suitable for very high temperature applications. Low temperature resistance is very good, maintaining strength and flexibility down to minus 70 degrees celsius.
• It is difficult to ignite and burns quite slowly.
• Inert to most common chemicals.

How beautiful is today's by

"My client bought this little chair second-hand a few years ago, and it had become a family favourite. So when the seat wore through, the chair was brought to me for re-upholstery. These suspended seats are tricky, and the most important consideration is to find a sturdy fabric which will withstand the weight of the sitter without stretching. After some searching, I managed to find this heavy-duty cotton duck canvas from , which was perfect for the job and available in the choice of a few colours. The canvas is a little on the stiff side which did make the sewing quite challenging, but will soften with use now that it is on the chair."

We really do have some very talented customers. Today's is by

"One of the most annoying things about Arctic fieldwork is the combination of rain + cold + needing to do fiddly things with your hands, so I'm still searching for the perfect glove setup. I was inspired by the big mittens issued by the Antarctic program I used to work with, which are designed to go over top of smaller gloves or liners, but as rain is a much bigger problem in Greenland they needed to be waterproof. Luckily I have a weird quantity of waterproof fabric left over from the raincoat I made earlier this year (BWP7139 from ), which was crying out to be made into a small waterproof item (or two...)

Imagine my delight at finding that Green Pepper do pdf patterns now, and one of them is for mittens! This is Green Pepper 207 Insulated Mittens/Overmitts, which I cut in size M based on my hand measurements. They ended up a bit too long, so I shortened them to the length of size S, but left them wide so that there's plenty of space for gloves underneath. I also lined them with fleece from an old blanket and used some scraps of upholstery leather for the palms, which I picked up from . The buckles are some fancy releasing ones that I already had lying around, and the drawstring cords are scavenged from some old sleeping bag sacks I had donated to me (I have a reputation as a magpie for old gear...)

This was a fun, easy project and I'm excited to see if I use them, or if they end up stuffed in the bottom of my pack all summer. Only one way to find out!"
