In the 18th and 19th century the South Yorkshire area was an important centre for the production of fine quality pottery. World famous 'Rockingham' china was produced at Swinton on the Earl Fitzwilliam's Wentworth estate close to Elsecar. Rotherham and Doncaster museums have extensive displays and information on the history of local ceramic production. A visit to our shop in the Elsecar Antique Centre will give you the opportunity to purchase a genuine antique piece of local history.

Impressive pair of Leeds Pottery pierced vases and covers.👍.
With the thicker glaze and all- over crazing these came from the early 20th century made by the Seniors or Thomas Morton for William Slee's china shop.
Although the glaze was rather thick at this time and could sometimes fill the definition on detailed mouldings the piercing was even finer than the original early 18/19th century pieces.

Somewhat out of fashion at the moment these large pieces of flower encrusted Rockingham and Derby did quite well at auction today.🙂.

Typically having chipped flowers and looking their age they still attracted some bidders attention.🙂.

Pushing five hundred pounds including commission.🙂.

Hi, Anyone with any info on this 'Jackfield' type creamer??
Miniature sized at 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" max and early looking with a very hand finished look.
I know the 22 teapots are a very moot point as to their origin and the mark on some Redware items now being attributed to Germany.
But this is a very clear S. &. Co
27. mark.
I remember seeing a black Swan shaped teapot years ago with a similar mark and the guy insisted it was Mexborough.🤔
