Holy Bible Box! 😮

Now this is a piece with some history…

Dating from the late 17th century, this Jacobean oak Bible box is around 350 years old!

Open it up and there’s still a 19th-century leather-bound family Bible inside.

Beautiful carved oak, wonderful patina and a fitted interior… if only this piece could talk!

🍂 Autumnal Days Return…

Have our body clocks adjusted yet? ⏰

The clocks went back yesterday and it certainly feels as though autumn has properly arrived. Although a bit wet today!

So what better time to share Autumnal Days Return, this beautiful large canvas painted by our resident artist Gillian Beale and currently part of her seasonal display in the Coffee Shop in Building 1.

Gillian has been decorating the Coffee Shop through the changing seasons for many years, something our regular visitors will know very well.

And as Gillian prepares for a very well-earned retirement, there is now 25% off the artwork and items for sale in her gallery (excluding greetings cards).

Perhaps an autumnal wander around Hemswell is just what’s needed today. 🍂
