Education spaces are starting to look a lot less like traditional education spaces.
Café-style seating, comfortable lounges, collaborative areas and informal meeting spaces are becoming increasingly common across schools, colleges and universities.
And there’s a reason for it.
Modern learning doesn’t only happen behind a desk in a classroom.
Students move between focused study, group work, conversations with tutors, socialising and downtime throughout the day, and the spaces around them need to support that.
Increasingly, education interior design is taking inspiration from hospitality, where experience has always been central to design.
Lighting, acoustics, furniture, materials and layout all influence how people feel and behave within a space.
By applying these same principles to education, we can create environments that feel less institutional and more welcoming, comfortable and relevant to the way students live and learn today.
