Something exciting is happening here…

We are thrilled to share that is collaborating with Patricia Boxshall – curator of the most unique, quirky and soulful antique objects, furniture and textiles. In addition to this, Katya is also partnering with father and son Robert and Tom Moy at in Oxford.

Both collaborations are united by a shared belief that objects should hold a story – made by people for people, reminding us why the things we surround ourselves with should never be merely functional or disposable.

πŸ“š Arts & Crafts Library Steps Chair πŸ“š

A charming Arts & Crafts oak library steps chair, designed to transform effortlessly from a chair into a practical set of steps. Combining craftsmanship with utility, it perfectly reflects the ideals of the Arts & Crafts movement, where beauty and function were considered inseparable.

The warm oak patina and attractive quatrefoil cut-out details lend the piece both character and architectural interest, while its ingenious design remains as useful today as when it was first made over a century ago.

A wonderful addition to a library, study or country house interior.

A striking carved oak Wainscot armchair in the 17th century manner with wonderful sculptural detail and rich dark patina 🀎

Traditionally, Wainscot chairs were symbols of status and craftsmanship, found in the principal rooms of manor houses and country homes during the 17th century. Characterised by their carved panel backs, solid oak construction and impressive proportions, they were designed to command attention.

This example beautifully captures that historic character with its deeply carved cresting, scrolling arms and wonderfully decorative presence.

We always look for pieces that bring genuine character into a room without feeling overly formal. Surrounding ourselves with well-crafted objects from the past is a lovely way to anchor a modern home with history and thoughtful, practical design.

Dating to between 1920 and 1940, this seat is a great example of how historic furniture easily meets our daily needs. Its curved, double-ended form and solid, tapered legs were originally designed to offer highly versatile seating. Because of its practical roots, it works perfectly today in a hallway, a dressing room, or positioned at the end of a bed.

Professionally reupholstered by RD Goodchild, it is now covered in 's β€˜Taplow’ velvet, a rich, marbled pattern that brings a wonderful depth of colour to the piece. It is a careful update that respects the original wooden frame while making it a comfortable, everyday addition meant to be lived around and enjoyed for years to come.

We love finding pieces that show exactly how practical problems were solved in the past. The Davenport desk is a brilliant example of this. Originally commissioned in the late 18th century by a Captain Davenport for his ship, its design was born out of absolute necessity. The narrow footprint and side-access drawers meant it could easily fit into a cramped cabin, offering a proper writing surface without taking up valuable floor space.

This mid-19th century example, dating to circa 1860, is crafted in beautifully figured rosewood. What makes it particularly clever is the mechanics of the top section. Rather than just a static slope, the entire desk area is designed to slide forward from the base – as shown in the photographs – to provide the necessary knee room for a chair. It is a precise piece of engineering that instantly transforms a compact cabinet into a fully functional workspace.

It features a gilt-tooled leather writing slope that opens to reveal small internal drawers, alongside the classic arrangement of four working side drawers and opposing faux drawer fronts to keep the look balanced. Today, this highly practical design remains just as useful in a modern home. It offers characterful storage and a quiet place to work, connecting a room directly to centuries of clever, hard-working domestic history.
