Seeing condensation on your windows? Where it appears tells you a lot:

- On the inside of the glass: too much moisture and not enough ventilation in the room
- On the outside: usually a good sign that your glazing is keeping the heat in
- Between the panes: the sealed unit has failed and will need replacing

Our guide covers the simple daily habits that stop it, and when it points to a bigger problem: https://www.scotiawindowsanddoors.co.uk/stop-condensation-on-windows/

Composite or uPVC? It's the question we hear most about front doors.

The honest answer: both can be secure and warm. Our composite and uPVC doors are both available to PAS 24 and Secured by Design, and domestic replacements are BFRC Band A as standard either way. The real difference is in the look, the feel and the opening you're filling.

Our new guide busts five common myths.

Not every "secure" door or window has actually been tested. Before you order for your next job, ask your supplier for three things:

1. The PAS 24 and Secured by Design certificate numbers, and check they cover the exact product type you're buying
2. Proof of the tested configuration, because changing the glazing or hardware can take a unit outside what was tested
3. Their ISO 9001 certification, so every unit is made to the same standard as the tested sample

Our guide to PAS 24 and Secured by Design for Scottish builders explains what standard 4.13 asks for: https://www.scotiawindowsanddoors.co.uk/pas-24-secured-by-design-scotland/

Short days, wet weather and the odd hard frost don't stop the work, but they do change how you plan it.

Our new guide for joiners and installers covers fitting windows in a Scottish winter: planning around daylight, ordering early, storing frames in the cold, and sealing so it lasts.

Tilt and turn or casement? It's one of the most common choices our trade customers weigh up when they price a job.

Casements suit like-for-like replacements, bays and rooms where an inward-opening sash would hit blinds or furniture. Tilt and turn earns its place on upper floors, large openings and anywhere secure ventilation matters.

Our new guide compares the two side by side: https://www.scotiawindowsanddoors.co.uk/tilt-and-turn-vs-casement-windows/
