There is a distinct feeling of the calm before the storm(s) this morning. Our shop was mercifully spared the flooding yesterday and we are open as normal. Why not come in and stock up on some crafting supplies for the wild days ahead? 🧶🧵🪡

Did you catch the beautiful display of mirrie dancers at the weekend? You almost can’t help but be inspired by it! We have materials to make such ideas a reality: an embroidery, perhaps, in carefully matched DMC cottons? Or a knitting or crochet project in one of our Aurora-inspired self-striping yarns?

We have something a little different and altogether quite special in the shop just now. We have been entrusted with a completely un-used collection of vintage yarns from New Zealand. They have been carefully stored with their yarn balls all intact, and are ready to finally be used.
They are almost all made of beautiful, soft New Zealand wool, along with a couple of luxurious kid mohair blends. The flecked Buttons range is a washable DK weight, perfect for children’s garments. There is also a basket of softest, finest cream 3ply that could make a stunning lace shawl.
They are only £1 / 25g or £2 / 50g , so come and discover them in store today 😊

I think it’s safe to say that autumn has arrived, and with it, thoughts of big, cosy sweater projects 🍂
We have been gutted to learn that one of our customers’ favourite yarns has been discontinued: the fantastic Aztec Aran is no more 😢. This aran weight blend of 90% easy care acrylic and 10% alpaca for warmth has long been popular for blankets and jumpers alike.
We still have a decent amount on it in stock, but once it’s gone, it’s gone and we can’t get any more…

We have some gorgeous new buttons in stock! A whole new selection of metal ones, some pretty ones for baby garments, and classic Aran buttons but made in easily washable plastic rather than leather, amongst others.

We have one last unfilled knitting belt available - these especially handy if you are travelling back to Australia or New Zealand where the traditional horse hair stuffing causes trouble at customs. It comes with the fixings you need to close it up once you have filled it at home. Hand made in Bressay.
