To educate, entertain & explore history using traditional crafts & themed workshops suitable for all ages in schools & community groups.

We work with heritage organisations, Councils & other businesses to provide local seasonal activities at events. Categories:
Schools: linked to the NI curriculum we offer various interactive programmes suitable for all primary Keystages. These include; Play in the Past, Victorian Life, Houses and Homes, Traditional crafts, From Flax to Linen, Famine Times, Seasonal customs & folklore, Cultural Diversity. Events: Over the years we have provided themed traditional crafts at events such as the Tall Ships, the Ulster Scots Festival, A Victorian Christmas in Antrim, May Day Celebration Week in Ballyclare, Spinning Yarns Festival in Antrim, the Belfast Mela to name a few. Community Groups: We can come to your group to work alongside you on a special project or a one off visit. Our projects have included working with the R-Space Gallery's Linen Biennale programme offering schools and community groups the opportunity to learn about local linen production and design a tea-towel. We facilitated North Ardoyne Women's Group to discuss and design a cultural wall hanging represenative of their own local history. In conjunction with Artsekta, we overseen the Coalisland Knitting Groups knnited town projevt. The women were taught how to take a building, work to scale, build it and then use the template to knit it as it would have been in 1910. Health & Wellbeing: Mossley Mill was host to a morning of activities set to help participants with being mindful of body, mind and soul. We provided two craft activities linking with this theme.

It's All Hallows Eve and tradition says that in Ireland, people light a candle and place it in their window. This is to remember any loved ones that have died. It's not a morbid act but one that let's you take time to sit and think about memories.

Some families would even set a place at their table in an act of remembrance.

I will be facilitating the craft at this venue. It will be based on a Victorian tradition that we continue today.

Clifton House is hosting three different festive events which together combine Christmas traditions, music, creativity and the history of the Belfast Poor House.

We have Christmas themed tours (£10pp), Carols from the Poor House, harp concert, historical talk and refreshments (£12.50pp) and returning by popular demand our Very Victorian Crafty Christmas, which includes a short Christmas tour, Victorian craft activity and refreshments (£15pp).

All these events offer an opportunity to discover the city’s past while enjoying something a little different this Christmas.

Back at sewing class today after several weeks away. It was good to catch up with everyone and see what they are making. 1st pic is Avril adjusting her very chic dressing gown, next 2 pics are of Norma cutting the lining to go into her Donegal tweed kilt, I'm adjusting cuffs for a blouse and last 2 pics are wide legged turn-up trousers that Helen is making.

There are so many things you can make from a piece of fabric.

Trick or treat we hear but who really plays the tricks anymore? I was working with a seniors group in Hilltown, they told me that when they were young, they lifted off farmer's gates and moved them somewhere else. In the morning, there was great hilarity watching the frustrated farmer's find their gates.

Make Your Own Lilliputian!

Help us build a tiny world alongside a giant Gulliver!

Using reclaimed fabric offcuts, sticks, string and recycled cardboard, families are invited to create their very own Lilliputian character. Explore wrapping, knotting, folding and layering techniques to bring your colourful, imaginative figure to life.
Your handmade creation will become part of a spectacular sculptural installation celebrating the 300th anniversary of Gulliver's Travels. Together, we'll create a bustling community of tiny people around the giant Gulliver!
