I know everyone says this, but we really are working away on some lovely projects that we’ll share soon. In the meantime, here’s a few things that happened recently.

A few Saturdays ago this happened ➡️

Our space featured in a documentary on Sky One. No idea what, and I don’t have Sky One so please let us know if you see us.

And…I passed my final RHS exam ⭐️

I am now proudly a holder of a Level 3 Certificate in Plant Growth, Garden Planning and Applied Propagation.

This means I do officially know quite a bit about plants. However, I have no idea what I’m going to do with this qualification. I now know a ton about maintenance schedules and visitor management in public gardens (among other things) which has been interesting but not much of it is relevant to the plant shop exactly.

I think I’m going to give the study a bit of a break now- it’s been 4 years of various courses and exams and my brain needs a rest 💚

How’s your houseplants doing? Are they loving or hating our long hot summer?

We know from your questions in the shop that this is definitely a time when your houseplants ask a lot of you. Longer days and hot rooms mean they drink faster, and small watering slips show up quickly.

I’ve pulled together a few notes into a simple guide. Swipe through for the golden rules of checking before you water, how to water properly, why timing matters, and how to tell thirsty from overwatered (because they can look surprisingly alike).

A few things that make summer watering easier:

🌱 Free draining potting mix so roots never sit soggy
🌱 A balanced plant food for the growing season, always water first, then feed
🌱 The right pot for the plant, terracotta dries faster than ceramic or plastic
