Heart stopping moment opening the kiln today.

At some point during the fire one of the cups fell off it’s stilts and stuck to the other one.

Pottery joys 😂😂😂

If you want to support local artists but don't know how, here are a few things you can do which can make the biggest difference.

By watching. commenting, sharing and interacting with social media posts it makes facebook (and other social media platforms) do the advertising and marketing - sharing these small businesses to many many more people who may connect with their work.

A quick like, comment or share supports every artists and gives their business a boost - without any cost.

If there is a small business or artist out their whose work you like these acts which takes a few second get the ball rolling to build their business.

It is also seem and felt directly by the artists and you are seen as more than just a number an evaluation list. 🥰

So pleased with the blend of glazes on this cup. The drips look brilliant and it’s one of a set of 4. But there were some things which had me worried. The sound of the ‘ping’ when it was cool and some strange marks in random parts of the glaze. Thankfully i always hot water test every mug. The first and second test went well but I still wasn’t convinced until lucky number 3!!

These little beauties have been given a second chance at fulfilling their life of a pot.
It may not quite be what they wanted but they are still doing a very important job.

For one reason or another these little pots didn't meet the mark to be used for cups or vases, so instead of throwing them away all the little succulent plants I have been growing now have a new home.

I love the way each pot makes the plant inside look different. They are all resting and being watered ahead of Leamington Art in the Park Festival this weekend where they will be looking for new homes.

I love the fact that everything I do with my ceramics is so hands on. I'm not one for testing and reading manuals and going by what everybody else does I much prefer having a go and figuring it out for myself through my mistakes.
My epic glaze session the other week has finally come out of the kiln. It took over 4 hours to glaze 60 plus items using nine different colour combinations I'm so happy with most of the results. It still amazes me the chemical reaction that takes place between the ingredients in the glaze, with one glaze to another and depending on the temperature in the kiln, it is true alchemy.

I like to push my luck when it comes to using these glazes as some can be very fluxy, which is another word for runny. Sometimes I am really lucky, and the drips come out just as I hoped, many times they do not, and I've just pushed my luck too much. You'll be able to see this in some of the photos posted below where the glaze has run a bit too much and stuck the pots to the little sacrifice trays their own.
If I'm not able to release them from the trays they are often classed as waste, however I refuse to throw anything away if there is any chance for being reused… say most of these little beauties will be given a second life I make the cutest little plant pots.

So, for now it's the final tests for these pieces ahead of Leamington Art in the Park Festival next weekend in Leamington Spa and then I'll be back in the studio making more and having another play with all the glazes and seeing what magic appears.
