I take a lot of pictures. Always have, and always will. I have quite a lot of them, and some of them are useful now (even the ones I took 30 years ago). But it is not always pictures. It is memories. It is the things we spot on the way from one place to another.

This week is all about Montrose, buildings, shapes, short walks, art, creativity and thinking. Lots of it, like taking photographs for as long as I can.

This week I am in POP By ProMo and you can book some of the creative workshops with me and Frit and Flux.

There's more to come, of course, so watch this space (or better, check my Patreon page - yes there's a free option to join, and at least in that way we won't be feeding the facebook monster too much).

What does home look like to you? Is it the buildings or places that are long gone? Is it a childhood home, perhaps even further away now? Or a favourite walk?

Bring photos, texts, or objects that resonate.

This workshop is about turning landscapes, memories, and spaces meaningful to you into mixed-media pieces through art-making. In this way, you can turn a personal experience into an object that lasts.

Telling the story behind the piece is optional but often the best part.

Are you terrified of a blank surface? Not sure what to draw or paint, or why you’d even do that? Do you often end up collecting items, torn papers or threads? The case for “just in case” has just arrived.

Bring your found objects, your fear of starting with an empty surface, and have some fun with mixed media collage.

You will have fun layering, rotating, concealing and revealing; something you can’t plan, follow a recipe and hope the result will look like everyone else’s. Bring your photographs and other items with personal meaning (or not).

The objective here is to let go and “have no idea” - the rest will follow, and you will be surprised with what you can make!

What “scraps” (read: found materials) would you save from the bin? Bring them over and you will see what's possible!
