This is why I love fluorite from Namibia, the depth of colour, the phantoms, the zoning. It’s just magical. And yes, this piece is available. 1.4 kilograms and 20 x 17 x 4.5cm

If you followed me for the sarcasm, you may have missed the fact that I actually sell minerals.

I’m considerably more discerning about the rocks I buy than the things I say. Have a look through the shop and see for yourself. Link in bio.

In my defence, she asked me to choose a crystal. Everything else came free because nobody has yet worked out how to stop me.

I sell the minerals at raremineralsearth.com. You can order in complete silence, which several customers would have preferred.

Meet Joshua ❤️

Usually when I announce a new arrival, it’s a rock. This one is considerably louder and won’t be available on the website.

To celebrate his arrival, I’m giving you 25% off specimens priced £400 or less at Rare Minerals Earth.

Swipe for a few of the pieces you can use it on.

Use RARE25 in your basket or at checkout. Shop through the link in my bio.

Ends Sunday 18 October at 8AM UK time. Postage excluded.

Share this post and you’ll also be entered into a free giveaway for a crystal with a retail value of approximately £100. Please DM me once you’ve shared so I can register your entry in case I miss it!

Giveaway announced Sunday night. No purchase necessary.

Very proud. Slightly overwhelmed!

Rare Minerals Earth welcomes our latest mascot, my first child Joshua, born 20:07 British time. He’s going to be an even bigger rockhound and Crystal enthusiast than his dad

I’ve started a WhatsApp group where I’ll be offering selected new pieces before I list them on the website.

If something catches your eye, you’ll have the chance to buy it first. No obligation, obviously, you’re welcome to just look.

Comment FIRST and I’ll send you the link 💚

The best aquamarine you’ve never heard of comes from one corner of Vietnam. The clarity and lustre are, in my opinion, up there with anything in the world. Very few crystals reach collectors.

One piece. DM me.

I used to help politicians choose their words. Now I’m typing “Semenovite” under my own company logo.

Whatever happened to standards, I appear to have been involved at both ends.

If you’re the person your friends can’t make eye contact with when somebody says something unfortunate, follow Rare Minerals Earth. I’ve got some minerals to show you.

My phone can capture every sign of ageing on my face, but ask it to do justice to a pink topaz and suddenly there are technical limitations.

This is Brazilian imperial topaz. Peach, pink and those little flashes of deeper red as you turn it. You think you’ve found the best angle, then you move it again.

I’m Alex, and I source and sell mineral specimens. A large part of my working day involves wanting to show someone what I’m holding.

Follow me. You can be that someone.

I could make this a perfectly straightforward business. Show you a mineral, tell you the price, put it in a box.

But then you might take it home without knowing why that bit is green, and I’d be lying awake worrying that you’d put the interesting side against a wall.

Other businesses worry about repeat customers. I’m worrying about the direction your fu***ng shelf faces.

Follow Rare Minerals Earth. I’ll explain the minerals. You can decide what’s wrong with me.

Fine mineral specimens in the shop. Link in bio.
