I heard earlier that it is 30 years today since Shed Seven released the single ‘Chasing Rainbows’.
It was 1996, I was 16 and a real Indie girl. I wore the classic uniform of the baby doll dresses from Miss Selfridge over white tees, vintage adidas tracksuit or low slung bootcut or flared jeans with converse all stars or my navy dms. I even had the Louise Wener cropped haircut. My bedroom was plastered with posters from Select and the evening session on Radio One was the backdrop to the minimal amount of GCSE revision that occured between drunken house parties.
I am increasingly grateful for that time. I really feel fortunate to have experienced a coming of age free from the pressures of social media, a time when boredom was real and spending time with friends IRL was the number one priority. Looking back we were so innocent compared to teens these days, it was a glorious although we didn’t realise it then.
And why am I telling you this? Well, this painting that was part of last week’s drop from Hollie Savory | Artist is called ‘Chasing Rainbows’ it felt wrong not to share it on the anniversary of that Shed Seven anthem!
