A refreshed website, some new photographs and a boost of energy for the new academic year. It feels like the right moment to reintroduce ourselves!

We’re Sam Goold and Katie Bolton, the interior designers behind Danebury, a studio near Stockbridge in Hampshire.

We design country houses and characterful homes based on the English country house tradition, always guided by the architecture, the setting and the people who live there. Think antiques mixed with beautifully made new pieces, pattern and colour used with confidence, good lighting, fine craftsmanship and those small details that make a house feel like yours rather than decorated.

One of us personally leads every project from first conversation to installation day, so you’re always working with someone who knows you, your house and your family. We plan, draw, source and coordinate with a trusted network of craftspeople and makers, keeping what can be a complex process enjoyable and reassuringly under control.

And with seven children between us, we know a home has to work hard and be practical as well as looking stylish!

Alongside our interiors, we curate The Danebury Collection: antique and decorative pieces chosen for their character, craftsmanship and staying power. Things we’d happily have in our own homes.

On Tuesday morning we hosted a lovely gathering of women entrepreneurs at our studio near Stockbridge. Thank you to everyone who came. As we grow our businesses, we're all facing similar challenges, and it was so nice to hear people swapping notes, making new connections and offering their wisdom. A special thank you to Elizabeth Prickett of littlehandfull for the delicious breakfast pots with her signature added seasonal boost of goodness.

We have some beautiful pieces of antique upholstery available on our website. Take a look at The Danebury Collection pages. We have had them all reupholstered by a wonderful local upholsterer so they are in perfect condition. We have used some of our favourite fabrics from Guy Goodfellow and Penny Morrison. These are the type of pieces that could sit comfortably in many different rooms and provide a practical ready to go option for extra seating or a splash of a different colour or texture. The lovely antique legs and original castors make them much more special than new upholstery pieces.

Have a look on our website and see if we can tempt you with an antique from The Danebury Collection which would make a lovely addition to your house. It's such a great time of year to look at things with fresh eyes. There is a great range of prices from a small picture, or antique jug right up to larger pieces of furniture. We are really passionate about the special feeling that collecting antique pieces over time can bring to country house interiors. It's not all about brown furniture, although we love that too! It's the imperfect plate of an old mirror, the burr walnut frame of a picture, the intricacy of the decoration on old ceramics and so much more.
