Established over 60 years ago, we take pride in hand making professional quality brushes at our workshops in London and in Welwyn Garden City. We also specialise in supplies for gilders, signwriters, pinstripers, specialist decorators, artists and a wide range of other craftsmen working in stained glass, graining, marbling, stencilling, theatrical make-up, picture restoration, scenic painting, coach painting and a host of other skills. To supplement our own production we also stock a comprehensive range of decorating tools and brushes, scumble glazes, signwriting enamels, varnishes, french polishes, universal strainers, pigments and artists’ oil colours, water colours and acrylics. We are one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of gold leaf and gilding supplies with extensive stocks of genuine gold leaf (in several shades and carats), white gold, moongold, palladium, silver and copper as well as imitation gold and imitation silver. Our wide range of products is used by the country’s finest craftsmen in museums, film studios, stately homes and the Houses of Parliament. Our loyal customers range from independent decorators through to the royal household at Buckingham Palace.

Warehouse sale tomorrow!
We’re opening the doors for a clear-out at our warehouse on Friday 9th of October!

Since our last warehouse sale last year, we’ve been sorting through more stock and found even more treasures – from dented tins and “faulty” paint batches to wrongly sized brushes and all sorts of weird and (perhaps) wonderful sundries - not to mention some ‘seconds’ grade kit boxes that could be perfect with a little TLC.

We have also unearthed some more ‘old’ gold leaf, and we have quite a bit of discounted, slightly damaged, gold leaf as well (pictured below).

Many items will be completely free to take, others will be heavily discounted.

Everything will be set up outside the warehouse, so please note that the warehouse itself will not be open to the public. All items available to take or buy will be displayed in the outdoor area.

Perfect for anyone who loves a bargain, or just a good rummage!

Friday 9th of October from 10 until 3 at:

A.S. Handover Ltd.
Unit 9
Edge Business Park
Brownfields
Welwyn Garden City
AL7 1WX

For Google Maps/GPS, please use postcode: AL7 1AN

Trains to Welwyn Garden City run every 30 minutes from many London stations including Kings Cross, Finsbury Park, Highbury and Islington and Old Street.

Alphakrylik is being discontinued - and we need your help!
Would you want to see an acrylic signwriting paint in our Handover range? And if so, what matters to you?
• Indoor use, outdoor use, or both?
• High opacity or buildable coverage?
• Fast drying, or more open for brush work?
• Would you like the same colour range as our oil-based enamel, or different?
• Any particular surface of substrate you would like it to work well on?
• Anything Alphakrylik did well - or didn’t?

Please comment with any answers or thoughts - if the need is there, we will work to develop our own range or find another range if one is out there!

New! ✨ Handover Gilders Studio Cushion ✨

The Handover Studio Cushion is made for use in the studio, with a fully flat base so it sits securely on your work surface rather than needing to be held.
Covered in fine black leather, it provides the slightly cushioned surface needed to control and cut leaf cleanly with a gilders knife.

Unlike our handheld cushions, this version is designed specifically for studio setups where stability matters more than portability. It stays put on the table, allowing for more controlled, repeatable cuts – especially useful when working on larger projects or over longer periods.

Shop for it on our website, link in bio!
