The main cooking area of a kitchen - a space where function really feels key. A space to store pots and pans, utensils and spices, chopping boards, baking trays.. to have all this within easy reach whilst also having worktop space too really does feel like a dream and whilst it isn’t always possible to fit all those elements you really want within a certain area we will always put much thought and consideration into how the space is really going to work for you.

So here’s a little look at a kitchen designed for a family where cooking really is at the heart. It felt like the focal point of the design and where your eye truly fell when you entered this rather special room. We hope many lovely dishes are being made and shared around the kitchen island here!

When it comes to the design of a shaker door we love to be creative. A shaker design may come from simple beginnings however there is so much you can do to bring that little extra touch that can make a design, or perhaps just elements of it, feel considered and personal and that extra touch special.

We will always adore a cut out detail in a shaker panel. It’s just so pretty isn’t it! And practical too, leaving a gap for air to flow in and out of the cabinet which is perfect for bootrooms, laundry cabinets and pantries but really it can be used anywhere and we love the detail it brings.

Summer days spent here, perched on this perfectly placed window seat as the sea breeze comes through. In easy reach of the countertop to sneak a mouthful or two of whatever dinner is cooking on the stove. A glass of something cool in hand. Mentally, we’ll take our minds here when things get a little hot and sticky this heatwave!

Libraries made for lounging in.. squishy sofas and cosy lighting make for the perfect spot to end the day by switching off with a book and a cup of tea. This room is abundant with that feeling of comfort and homeliness - beautiful fabrics and a warm colour scheme and we like to think our cabinetry plays a part too! We created a series of cabinets designed to be fitting for both a home library and office including a lovely spacious desk area for the family to work at together.

This lovely bootroom had the advantage of being located just by the front door to this seaside property so it’s become not just a place to store shoes and coats and all the paraphernalia we use to go outdoors but also a very welcoming entrance to this family home. A wash of colour, a few thoughtfully chosen pieces of artwork and antiques and some well made bespoke cabinetry - a perfect combination.

Our April recipe, making the most of some beautiful pink forced rhubarb - rhubarb and pink peppercorn tart, a recipe from Thalia Ho’s book ‘Wild Sweetness’ which we would throughly recommend for seasonal recipes and wonderful food photography!

Ingredients -

For the rhubarb
- 200g rhubarb chunks
- 70g granulated sugar
- 60ml water
- juice of a lemon
- 1 tbsp rose water

For the cake
- 250g plain flour
- 150g polenta
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp pink peppercorns
- zest of a lemon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 200g granulated sugar
- 200g unsalted butter - cold
- 1 egg
- 80ml buttermilk

Method -
- preheat the oven to 180 degrees (fan oven) and line a rectangular baking tin with greaseproof paper
- for the rhubarb - cook all the ingredients in a pan over a medium low heat until tender, leave to cool
- for the cake - mix all the dry ingredients to distribute and then add the cold butter and mix until a breadcrumb like texture is formed, whisk together the egg and buttermilk and then pour into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix together with a wooden spoon until just mixed and a crumbly dough is formed
- use 2/3 of the dough and tip into the prepared tin in an even layer
- strain the rhubarb and spoon over the dough, then crumble the remaining dough on top
- bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, allow to cool and sprinkle (if you wish) with icing sugar and rose petals

Our dressing room project for - rich in colour and texture with beautiful olive coloured joinery, softened with h**p wallpaper set into the panels of the wardrobe doors. Using wallpaper, or fabrics, is a wonderful addition to a cabinetry design and really does bring an artistic touch to the interior scheme - it feels considered and purposeful, chosen to bring that extra element of design to a room that makes the interior feel all the more luxurious.

Snapshots from our project with that bring us happiness. A space where our cabinetry is ‘new’ yet blends so effortlessly with Holly’s beautiful collection of antique finds and vintage treasures.

There are so many corners and details of this project that we adore but one of our favourites has to be the window seat. It feels so welcoming and inviting and would be our favourite spot for a morning coffee, planning recipes from cookbooks or just taking a well deserved minute to sit, pause and just enjoy the beautiful space that’s been created!
