לפני שמתקיימת שיחה עם הרופא, מתקיים מפגש ראשון עם המקום.
דלפק הקבלה בקליניקה של ד״ר אריאל ניימן תוכנן כאלמנט פיסולי שמגדיר את החלל, אבל אינו משתלט עליו. הגיאומטריה שלו חדה ובעלת נוכחות, בעוד שפלטת הגוונים החמה מרככת אותה ויוצרת תחושה נעימה ומזמינה.
היה חשוב לי שהקבלה לא תרגיש כמו מחסום שמפריד בין המטופלים לצוות, אלא כמו נקודת חיבור.
כי גם האלמנט המרשים ביותר בחלל צריך לשרת את האנשים שנמצאים בו.
עיצוב טוב לא מסתכם ביצירת רושם. הוא בונה את הדרך שבה האדם פוגש את המקום, מבין אותו ומרגיש בו בטוח.
כאן, השפה העיצובית מתחילה כבר בדלפק וממשיכה ממנו אל כל חלקי הקליניקה.

Precisely because this is a plastic surgery and aesthetic clinic, it was clear that the experience needed to begin differently.
Dr. Ariel Neiman wanted to create a place where patients would feel comfortable. A space that feels modern and professional, yet never cold or distant. Impressive, but still welcoming enough for every conversation to take place at eye level.
That is where the design process began. Not with the question of what a clinic is supposed to look like, but with the question of how the people entering it should feel.
The result is a warm, sophisticated and carefully considered space, distinctly different from the traditional clinical environment, without compromising for a moment on professionalism or trust.

יש מקומות שאנחנו נכנסים אליהם וכבר ברגע הראשון הגוף מעט מתכווץ.
ודווקא משום שמדובר בקליניקה לכירורגיה פלסטית ואסתטית, היה לנו ברור שהחוויה כאן צריכה להתחיל אחרת.
ד״ר אריאל ניימן ביקש ליצור מקום שבו המטופלות והמטופלים ירגישו בנוח. מקום מודרני ומקצועי, אבל לא מנוכר. מרשים, אבל כזה שמאפשר לשיחה להתקיים בגובה העיניים.
מכאן התחיל התכנון של הקליניקה: לא מתוך השאלה איך קליניקה אמורה להיראות, אלא מתוך השאלה איך האנשים שנכנסים אליה אמורים להרגיש.
התוצאה היא חלל עוטף, עמוק ומדויק, שמצליח להיות שונה מאוד מהקליניקה המוכרת, מבלי לוותר לרגע על תחושת הביטחון והמקצועיות.

בתמונה הזו יש הרבה יותר ממה שנראה לעין. יש בה שעות של מחשבה על כל קו, לילות ללא שינה על בחירת החומר המדויק, והרבה מהלב שלי כמעצבת ואמנית.
לכיור הזה קראתי "כיור קאנון". בעולם המוזיקה, 'קאנון' הוא חזרה מתמשכת של מלודיה אחת, שכבה על גבי שכבה, עד שהן משתלבות ליצירה הרמונית אחת שלמה. וזה בדיוק מה שביקשתי לעשות כאן.
תסתכלו על השכבות. לא רק על משטח הפורצלן העליון, אלא על החזית המפוסלת. כל קשת, כל קימור, הוא הד של הקו הקודם, שכבה שמשקפת שכבה אחרת. זהו קצב, מנגינה שקפאה בתוך האבן.
כשהאור הנסתר בוקע דרך השכבות האלה, הוא חושף את העומק. זה לא סתם עיצוב של פונקציה. זו התבוננות פנימה. זה ניסיון ללכוד רגע של זרימה טהורה, כמו נחל שחצב בתוך החומר. זו תזכורת לכך שלכל אחד מאיתנו יש שכבות על שכבות של חוויות, מחשבות ורגשות, שמרכיבות את מי שאנחנו.
אני מזמינה אתכם להסתכל על התמונה הזו לא רק כמו אובייקט עיצובי, אלא כיצירת אמנות. יש פה נשמה. יש פה חיים.

There is much more to this image than meets the eye. It has hours of thought over each line, sleepless nights over the choice of the exact material, and a lot of my heart as a designer and artist.
I have called this sink the “Canon Sink.” In the world of music, a ‘canon’ is the continuous repetition of a single melody, layer upon layer, until they blend into one harmonious whole. And that is exactly what I wanted to do here.
Look at the layers. Not just on the top porcelain surface, but on the sculpted front. Each arc, each curve, is an echo of the previous line, a layer reflecting another layer. It is a rhythm, a melody frozen in the stone.
As the hidden light shines through these layers, it reveals depth. This is not just a design for function. This is an inward gaze. This is an attempt to capture a moment of pure flow, like a stream carved into the material.
It is a reminder that each of us has layers upon layers of experiences, thoughts and emotions that make up who we are.
I invite you to look at this image not just as a design object, but as a work of art. There is soul here. There is life here.

כשהגעתי לראשונה לאולם התצוגה הישן, ראיתי משהו שצבט לי בלב: הקמינים החשמליים הוצגו באזור מוצל ומפוספס, שבו התאורה פשוט לא עשתה עמם חסד.
שם הבנתי נקודה קריטית: תכנון תצוגה לקמינים הוא אמנות של אור וצל. התאורה בחלל חייבת להיות מדויקת וחכמה – היא לעולם לא יכולה להתחרות במוצר עצמו. ויותר מזה, יש הבדל תכנוני תהומי בין קמין גז, ביואתנול, או קמין חשמלי. לכל אחד מהם יש קצב, נפח ועוצמת אור שונה לגמרי.
אז מה עשיתי עבור הקמינים החשמליים של אורטל קמינים? בניתי עבורם חדר שחור פנימי. חלל עטוף, מנותק לחלוטין מאור יום, שמאפשר לכל קמין לנצוץ בדרכו הייחודית ולבלוט במלוא עוצמתו.
כדי להפוך את זה מ"תצוגה" לחוויה רגשית, יצרתי קירות אמורפיים מטויחים בטיח שחור בעל טקסטורה עמוקה. הצורניות מתעקלת ונפתחת כמו קליפה שמתקלפת ונחשפת – כי בדיוק את זה האש עושה לנו.
היא גורמת לנו להסיר את השכבות והמגננות, להניח את המסכים בצד, ליצור שיח מקרב ולחזור לשקט הבסיסי שלנו.

When I first arrived at the old showroom, I saw something that struck a chord in my heart: the electric fireplaces were displayed in a shaded, striped area, where the lighting simply did them no favors.
There I realized a critical point: designing a fireplace display is an art of light and shadow. The lighting in the space must be precise and clever – it can never compete with the product itself. What’s more, there is a profound design difference between a gas fireplace, a bioethanol fireplace, or an electric fireplace. Each of them has a completely different rhythm, volume, and intensity of light.
So what did I do for Ortal Fireplaces’ electric fireplaces? I built an internal black room for them. An enveloped space, completely cut off from daylight, that allows each fireplace to sparkle in its own unique way and stand out in its full power.
To transform this from a “display” into an emotional experience, I created amorphous walls plastered with deeply textured black plaster. The form curves and opens like a shell that peels off and is exposed – because that’s exactly what fire does to us.
It makes us remove the layers and defenses, put the screens aside, create an intimate conversation and return to our basic silence.

תסתכלו על הקיר הזה. הוא לא "סתם" קיר. עבורי, כמעצבת, הוא ההתגלמות של הרגעים שבהם החיים קצת גדולים עלינו.
כשתכננתי את אולם התצוגה של אורטל קמינים בהוד השרון, זה היה אחד הרעיונות הראשונים שנולדו לי. רציתי ליצור משהו פראי, ראשוני, בלתי מעובד. רציתי להדגים את העוצמה השורשית של האש הדולקת.
בטון קשיח וקר. שתי כנפיים שמרחפות באוויר, מנותקות מהקרקע. תחושה של אי-יציבות, של חוסר ודאות. ואז, במרכז – שבר. חור שנפער בכוח. זה בדיוק הרגע הזה בחיים שבו הכל מרגיש כמו לחץ מכל כיוון. הילדים משגעים, בזוגיות קשה למצוא את המילים הנכונות, בעבודה לוחצים, והחיים... טוב, הם פשוט קורים.
אבל שימו לב למה שקורה דרך השבר הזה. פתאום, מתוך הקושי הכי קר והחומר הכי קשה, מתגלה האור. קמין חלון יפהפה.
עבורי, זה הרעיון שרציתי להעביר: גם כשהקיר של החיים נראה לנו בלתי חדיר, האש תמיד יכולה לפעור בו חור של אור. כי אין כמו הנחמה והקרבה שאש יודעת ליצור. אין כמו לעצור את הכל, בחורף גשום, למזוג כוס יין, להתיישב ליד הקמין, ופשוט להיות. רק שיחה טובה, ואש דולקת, וכל הלחץ פשוט מתאדה.

Look at this wall. It isn't "just" a wall. For me, as a designer, it embodies those moments when life gets too big for us.
One of my first ideas for the Ortal Fireplaces showroom in Hod Hasharon was something wild, primal and unprocessed, expressing fire's elemental power.
Hard, cold concrete. Two wings floating in the air, off the ground. Instability. Uncertainty. Then, at the center, a fracture, a hole opened by force. That moment when pressure comes from every direction: the kids drive us crazy, words fail us in our relationships, work is stressful, and life... well, it just happens.

But look through the fracture. Suddenly, light emerges from the coldest struggle and hardest material: a beautiful window fireplace.

This is what I wanted to convey: even when the wall of life seems impenetrable, fire can open a hole of light in it. Nothing creates comfort and closeness like fire. Nothing compares to pausing on a rainy winter day, pouring a glass of w**e, sitting by the fireplace and just being. A good conversation, a burning fire, and the stress evaporates.

כשהקמין משתחרר מהקיר, הוא מקבל נוכחות אחרת.
בקומפוזיציה הזו באולם התצוגה של אורטל קמינים, רציתי לתת לו מעמד של אובייקט עצמאי: גוף שחור, מדויק וכמעט מרחף, שניצב בין חומריות מחוספסת למשטחים כהים וחלקים.
דווקא הצמצום מדגיש את האש. בלי מסגרת ובלי תפאורה מיותרת, היא הופכת לנקודת האור שמחברת בין הניגודים ומכניסה לחלל עומק ושקט.

When the fireplace is released from the wall, it takes on a different presence.
In this composition at the Ortal Fireplaces showroom, I wanted to treat it as an object in its own right: a precise black form that appears almost to float between raw textures and smooth, dark surfaces.
The restraint brings the fire into sharper focus. Without an elaborate frame or unnecessary scenery, it becomes the point of light that connects the contrasts and gives the space depth and quiet.

כשהאש פוגשת עץ, נוצר חיבור כמעט אינסטינקטיבי.

בעיצוב הקיר הזה באולם התצוגה של אורטל קמינים, רציתי שהקמין לא רק יוצב על גבי רקע, אלא יהפוך לחלק בלתי נפרד מהקומפוזיציה. מלבני העץ, בגוונים, בעומקים ובכיוונים שונים, יוצרים קצב חומרי שמוביל את המבט אל האש.

הניגוד בין החום הטבעי של העץ למעטפת השחורה מדגיש את שני החומרים, ובאותו הזמן מחבר ביניהם. כך הקמין הופך ממוצר שמוצג בחלל, לאלמנט אדריכלי שמגדיר אותו.
בנוסף, בקמין זה בחרנו להדגים ארובה שעוברת ברצפה, כאופציה תכנונית נוספת עבור בתים בבנייה.

When fire meets wood, the connection feels almost instinctive.

For this wall in the Ortal Fireplaces showroom, I wanted the fireplace not simply to be placed against a backdrop, but to become an integral part of the composition. Timber panels in different tones, depths and directions create a material rhythm that guides the eye toward the flame.

The contrast between the natural warmth of the wood and the black surround brings both materials into focus while connecting them. The fireplace shifts from being a product displayed in the space to an architectural element that defines it.
Additionally, in this fireplace we chose to demonstrate a chimney that runs through the floor, as another design option for homes under construction.

לא היו הדמיות לפרויקט הזה.
הייתה לי תמונה ברורה בראש, ובעיקר היה אמון.

לוחות הזמנים היו קצרים, החלל היה גדול, ההחלטות היו רבות והעלויות משמעותיות. דווקא בתוך כל זה, קיבלתי מאורטל קמינים חופש יצירתי כמעט מוחלט.

הם לא ביקשו לראות מראש כל זווית או לעצור בכל שלב כדי לוודא שהתוצאה תהיה מוכרת ובטוחה. הם בחרו בי, תמכו בי ונתנו לי ליצור.

זו לא דרך שמתאימה לכל פרויקט, והדמיות הן כלי חשוב.

אבל הפרויקט הזה הזכיר לי שגם ההדמיה המדויקת ביותר לא יכולה להחליף מערכת יחסים שיש בה הקשבה, מקצועיות ואמון.
כי לפעמים הדרך להוציא ממעצבת את העבודה הטובה ביותר שלה היא לא לומר לה בדיוק מה לעשות.
היא לתת לה את המרחב ליצור משהו שאיש עדיין לא ראה.
ואם את\ ה אדריכל, מעצב או אמן בנשמתך, אתה בטח מבין מה זה אומר על האנשים שמנהלים את החברה הזאת. הייתה לי זכות ענקית. תודה

There were no renderings for this project.

I had a clear picture in my mind, and above all, there was trust.
The schedule was tight, the space was large, the decisions were many and the investment was significant. Yet within all of that, Ortal Fireplaces gave me almost complete creative freedom.

They did not ask to preview every angle or stop at every stage to make sure the result would feel familiar and safe. They chose me, supported me and gave me room to create.
This approach is not right for every project, and renderings are an important tool. But this project reminded me that even the most accurate visualization cannot replace a working relationship built on listening, professionalism and trust.

Sometimes the way to bring out a designer’s best work is not to tell her exactly what to do.
It is to give her the space to create something no one has seen before. And if you're an architect, designer, or artist at heart, you probably understand what that means for the people who run this company. I had a huge privilege. Thank you.

בעיצוב אולם התצוגה של אורטל קמינים, חלמתי שכל קמין יקבל עולם משלו.

כאן יצרתי סביב קמין ביואתנול- מסה בהירה, גבוהה ופיסולית, שמתקפלת בקצותיה ומחזיקה את הלהבה כקו דק ומדויק במרכזה.

הצורה הגדולה והכמעט מונומנטלית אינה מסתירה את האש, אלא מדגישה אותה. מצד אחד חומר, משקל ושקט. מצד שני תנועה, אור וחום.

זה המתח שמעניין אותי בעיצוב: לקחת אלמנט פונקציונלי ולהפוך אותו לנוכחות שאי אפשר להישאר אדישים אליה.
לא עוד קמין שמוצב בתוך חלל.

In designing the Ortal Fireplaces showroom, I dreamed that each fireplace would receive its own world.

Here I created around a bioethanol fireplace - a bright, tall and sculptural mass, which folds at its edges and holds the flame as a thin and precise line in its center.

The large and almost monumental shape does not hide the fire, but emphasizes it. On the one hand, material, weight and silence. On the other hand, movement, light and heat.

This is the tension that interests me in design: taking a functional element and turning it into a presence that cannot be left indifferent.

No longer a fireplace placed in a space.

A space built around the fire.

הקהל הכי כן שלי הגיע לביקור.
לא הייתי צריכה להסביר להן את הקונספט, את בחירת החומרים או את כל מה שקרה מאחורי הקלעים.
הן פשוט נכנסו, רצו בין הקמינים, קראו זו לזו ״את חייבת לבוא״ והכריזו שהמקום מטורף.

וזה אולי המבחן הכי יפה של חלל: עוד לפני שמבינים איך תכננו אותו, הוא כבר מצליח לגרום לנו להרגיש משהו.
ובסוף שתיהן הכריזו שהן רוצות להיות מעצבות פנים, בדיוק כמו אמא.

אני את שלי עשיתי :)

My most honest audience came to visit.

I did not need to explain the concept, the material choices or everything that happened behind the scenes.

They simply walked in, ran between the fireplaces, called out to each other, “You have to come see this,” and announced that the place was incredible.

Perhaps that is the most beautiful test of a space: before you understand how it was designed, it already makes you feel something.

At the end, they both announced that they wanted to become interior designers, just like Mom.
To me, there is no more meaningful compliment.
