There is something about watching a handloom saree meet its person for the first time.

This Negamam cotton saree was hanging in a row among many others, quietly waiting to be noticed. Then she drew it out, let it fall open, and the leaves woven across the grey body came alive. The pallu turned out to be a whole world of its own, with vines, waves and golden motifs sitting against a deep navy border.

Negamam cottons are known for being light, breathable and easy to wear all day, the kind of saree that feels as good at the end of the day as it did in the morning. Made on handlooms, each one carries the patience of the weaver who made it.
