“Kala cotton drying in the Bhujodi sun… Each thread tells its own story. Black dots on white ground, like the meeting of earth and sky. This is not just fabric, it is a life—organic, raw, and true.”

This initiative reflects a heartfelt cultural exchange between the Bhujodi weaving community and revered spiritual storyteller Morari Bapu, who was invited to visit a nearby village, Madhapar during his Ram Katha.

As a gesture of respect and devotion, the weavers (Vankar community) of Bhujodi came together to invite Bapu to experience their rich textile heritage and living traditions. During his visit, Bapu graciously listened to devotional bhajans presented by the community, creating a deeply spiritual and emotional connection.

To honor his presence, the Bhujodi weavers collectively offered a specially crafted kurta — a symbol of their identity, skill, and devotion. This kurta was made entirely through traditional and sustainable processes:

Organic Kala cotton grown naturally
Handspun yarn prepared with care
Handwoven fabric created on traditional looms
Hand-stitched garment crafted with precision
The kurta was prepared under the guidance and craftsmanship of senior artisan Chaman Vankar, representing the collective effort and blessings of the entire Bhujodi weaving community.

This offering is more than a garment — it is a woven expression of faith, sustainability, and cultural continuity. It carries within it the essence of Bhujodi’s heritage, where every thread reflects dedication, simplicity, and devotion — values that resonate deeply with Bapu’s teachings.

If worn during Ram Katha, this kurta will symbolically connect the spiritual narrative of Ram with the lived traditions of the weaver community, creating a meaningful bridge between craft and devotion.

At the Craft Bazaar at NIFT Delhi, a beautiful moment of tradition meeting the future unfolded.

Our collection from Bhujodi, presented by Master Artisan Chamanji, reflects generations of handloom knowledge and craftsmanship. Standing beside him is the next generation — Lincy, a young design student at NIFT Delhi, who is carrying this heritage forward with fresh ideas, new perspectives, and deep respect for tradition.

It was an honour to have Tanu Kashyap, Director of NIFT Delhi, visit the stall and appreciate the collection. Her encouraging words for Lincy and the work deeply inspired us and strengthened our belief that when tradition meets young creativity, the future of craft becomes even brighter.
Moments like these remind us that our heritage continues to live and grow through the hands and vision of the next generation.

In Memory of Vankar Daiben Premji

Today we lost the quiet strength of our family and our art.
Vankar Daiben Premji dedicated her entire life to supporting her husband, Shilp Guru Vankar Premji Bhai, raising their four sons and a daughter, and preserving the spirit of what later became the Handloom Design Centre. She worked quietly, selflessly, and tirelessly—never seeking recognition, never seeking awards, titles, or credit.

She was not known as a "renowned artisan," was not honored by institutions, or received any recognition on platforms—but she was the living soul of our weaving heritage. This journey would not have been possible without her support, care, and sacrifice. She carried generations forward with love, patience, and unwavering strength.

At the age of 85 , she has now returned to the lap of God.
May her soul rest in peace.
Our family will always remember, honor, and miss her deeply.

Her unseen hands and boundless heart are the reason the Handloom Design Center exists today.

Forever grateful. She will always be remembered. 💐🙏
