Rosso Fuoco by Maissmo Daissè is a work created using reclaimed wooden planks from a century-old "tabià", a traditional Dolomite hay barn. The wooden surface was treated using the Japanese "yakisugi" technique, in which controlled charring preserves the timber while enhancing its texture and material presence. Against this deep, vibrant black background runs a red trace composed of hand-crafted Orsoni smalti tesserae, red coloured gold mosaics, and gold leaf applied using the traditional gilding technique.
A mark that crosses the surface like a flowing lava path, evoking both molten fire and the glow of embers rekindled by a breath of air emerging from the dark charcoal.
