Local Seasonal Spotlight: Gomphrena

Small but full of character, gomphrena is a flower that offers far more than meets the eye.

Native to the Americas, globe amaranth is loved for its rounded, clover-like flower heads in vibrant shades of magenta, purple, pink, red, orange and white. Its papery blooms hold their coloir beautifully when dried, earning it a place among the most enduring flowers.

Beyond its ornamental appeal, it has a rich ethnobotanical history, with traditional uses in food and herbal preparations across different regions.

A tiny flower with remarkable staying power - both in the garden and long after harvest 🌸

When Denise and Asanka first approached us to design their September wedding florals, their brief was simple: seasonal flowers in a colourful palette. The result was a joyful riot of colour deeply ingrained in the knowledge of florals that work best in a hot and humid month. A celebration well worth remembering 🌸

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of creating the floral details for a beautiful birthday celebration at Palazzo Guarena , alongside Malta Event Design .

Set against the timeless architecture of the palazzo, the floral design was inspired by the warmth of a fading summer sunset — layered tones, seasonal blooms and intricate detailing coming together to create something rich, atmospheric and quietly opulent.

Every element was considered to complement the setting, from the seasonal flower choices to the finer details that brought the tablescape to life.

A study in autumnal simplicity.

Our Lunaria Half Wreath celebrates one of the season’s most distinctive botanicals — delicate, pearlescent seed pods that catch the light beautifully and bring an ethereal quality to an arrangement.

Known as Lunaria annua, or commonly as honesty, Lunaria is particularly treasured for its papery, moon-like seed heads. While its fresh flowering season belongs to spring, the dried seed pods are a beautiful expression of the transition into autumn — when the garden begins to shift from abundance towards texture, structure and seed.

A quieter interpretation of autumn — designed to last well beyond the season. Available to order as part of our seasonal wreath collection.

With its velvet-like texture and almost sculptural flower heads, celosia is one of summer’s most distinctive blooms.

But celosia is more than an ornamental flower. Native to tropical regions of Africa, it has a long history as an edible leafy vegetable, with its leaves and seeds traditionally used as food in parts of Africa and Asia.

From the brain-like folds of Cristata to the feathery plumes of Plumosa and the elegant spikes of Spicata, centuries of cultivation have given us an extraordinary range of forms.

A flower, a food and a fascinating piece of botanical history. 🌿
