A closer look at the Hobsonville Boat Club project.

The glulam structure was finished in CUTEK® Storm Cloud, a colour chosen to complement the architecture and surrounding natural environment, while still allowing the natural character of the timber to come through.

For more than 30 years, CUTEK® has been helping timber perform in some of the harshest environments imaginable.

What started in New Zealand as a specialist timber protection system has grown into a global brand trusted by architects, builders, timber specialists and homeowners alike.

From backyard decks and weatherboards to mass timber structures and projects, the mission has always been the same: help timber perform naturally while enhancing its beauty.

Three decades on, we’re still learning, refining and pushing the industry forward — one piece of timber at a time.

One of the biggest misconceptions about timber homes is that they’re difficult to maintain.

With CUTEK®, keeping timber protected doesn’t require sanding, stripping or spending every weekend on maintenance. Simply clean the surface if needed and apply a fresh coat when the timber is ready.

No flaking. No peeling. No complicated system.

Just an easy way to keep your timber looking its best for years to come.

DIY-friendly and designed for real homeowners.

Continuing our series showcasing standout mass timber projects from around the world – this time in Doha, Qatar.

The Katara Bridge is a 92-metre glulam structure designed by Enovate Consultants and delivered by Red Stag TimberLab, showcasing the precision, strength and performance possible with mass timber on a large infrastructure scale.

Fabricated in prefabricated sections using advanced 3D modelling and CNC machining, the bridge was engineered for efficient transport, rapid installation and seamless assembly on site. Protected with CUTEK® wood oil, the timber structure was designed to perform in demanding environmental conditions while maintaining the natural beauty of the timber.

A powerful example of engineered timber delivering both structural performance and architectural impact.

We are starting a new series showcasing incredible mass timber projects from around New Zealand and beyond, beginning with this one at Dolomite Point, Punakaiki on the West Coast. 🌊

Designed by Sheppard & Rout for the Department of Conservation, the new Visitor Experience Centre sits amongst one of NZ’s most iconic landscapes, surrounded by pancake rock formations and dramatic coastal conditions.

Timber elements throughout the project were protected with CUTEK®, helping the structure withstand the harsh coastal environment while allowing the natural character of the timber to remain the hero.

A seriously beautiful example of architecture, landscape and mass timber design working together.

Sustainability at CUTEK® isn’t a claim. It’s built into how our products work.

* We don’t rely on surface films that fail and create waste
* Less replacement = less waste and better use of a natural resource
* We reduce rework, sanding and stripping and the use of harsh chemicals.
* We’re always refining our formulations, reducing VOCs and using recycled inputs where we can

It’s a more considered way of working with timber and not against it, helping it perform properly over time. We are tried and tested in the market, from residential projects to huge scale commercial projects.

Case Study – Pine Fence

Ben and Tracey bought their first home a few years ago and, like many homeowners, have been working to improve their home over time. Their house came with a standard weathered pine fence. The fence was ten years old, fully exposed to the elements, and had never been cleaned or protected. They had assumed that nothing could be done for their fence and had planned to knock it down and replace it. Instead, they tried CUTEK® Restore. They were astonished by the results.

Try it for yourself! CUTEK® Restore is available nationwide at all major hardware stores.

We’re seeing more and more thermally modified timber around lately and for good reason. It’s stable, durable, and naturally gives you a rich, moody tone.

As timber experts, we understand diffferent timber types and how they are best protected and we are always happy to chat if you’re considering it for an upcoming project.
