People see this photo and probably think I've always known what I was doing.
The truth is... I had absolutely no clue.
When I started Prime Petals, I didn't have a business degree or a big plan. I didn't know how to do taxes, bookkeeping, pricing, SEO, website, or marketing. Half the time I was hoping I was doing it right.
I just knew one thing... I loved creating beautiful flowers.
Everything else has been learnt along the way. Through trial and error, late nights, mistakes, constantly second guessing myself, and plenty of "what the hell am I doing?" moments along with tears.
Somehow, that little dream turned into this:
Hundreds of weddings and events
Featured in bridal magazines
Working alongside some incredible vendors, venues and businesses.
Trusted by so many amazing couples.
Building Prime Petals into one of New Zealand's leading artificial wedding florists.
Even booking couples living in Australia!
But honestly... those aren't the things I'm most proud of.
I'm proud of the sheer joy when flowers are collected and received.
Messages from couples saying I made the whole process easy.
The photos they send me after their wedding.
The reviews and referrals from past couples.
The trust people place in me to be part of one of the biggest days of their lives.
Running a business is hard, there are days I still question myself. Days where I wonder if I'm making the right decisions. Days where I'm trying to work out business stuff while also being Mum, juggling life, and hoping I haven't forgotten something important.
I still don't have all the answers.
But if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that you don't have to know everything before you start. You just have to be willing to keep showing up, keep learning, and not give up when things get hard.
Looking back, I honestly don't know how I've done it... but I'm so grateful that I did.
To every couple who's booked me, every vendor who's supported me, my family and friends who've always been there cheering me on, and every single person who's followed along over the years... thank you. Prime Petals wouldn't be what it is without you. 🫶
Here's to whatever comes next 🥂
