Since 2017 TEMPLE has been the brand behind the creation of Raffles Hotel Singapore signature fragrance; 'Frangipani'.

Abundantly found in the verdant gardens surrounding the Grand Dame, an exquisite yet elegant fresh floral scent emanates from the 'Plumeria' frangipani trees, perfuming the air.

To create the Raffles signature scent, I was guided by their fragrance brief, and a vision to create a scent that would instantly transport their guests back to their time at the hotel.

To achieve this, I spent many hours at Raffles; in the gardens, amongst the buildings historic walls, experiencing their generous hospitality, and just breathing in a sense of what should be created to honour such an iconic hotel - "what would be the most perfect scent?" - to create the olfactory journey & recreate the exact feeling of being there...

After much research, trials, and what would amount to hundreds of hours, I realised I needed to create a singular-note focussed scent, to encapsulate as much of a true-to-life experience of the Raffles' 'Plumeria' frangipani trees as possible. My high-percentage use of Plumeria frangipani essential oils were pivotal in the final fragrance blend, together with a delicate balance of complimentary (but not overpowering) notes of Rose and Ylang Ylang.

Encapsulated in Diffuser, Eau de Toilette and Room Spray, the ethereal fragrance of frangipani is truly reminiscent of Raffles romantic and mystical ambience.

I hope you love this fragrance as much as I loved creating it. And I hope it transports you back to your memorable time at Raffles Hotel 🙏❤️

I'm a self-confessed fragrance addict, as well as having my own home fragrance brand.

So the only thing I want as a memento when I travel is fragrance from the places I visit. And maybe shoes... 🤔😆.

But it's mostly niche fragrance, because apart from being previously undiscovered, these fragrance brands are not able to ship internationally. So into the suitcase they go!

I also finally met up with lovely Founder Nick, from the multi award winning niche fragrance brand gallivant.stories , at his London Atelier. Nick has been in the fragrance industry for 30 years, & has built the most incredible travel-inspired fragrance company.
It was so great to connect with another founder in the industry - literally so much tea exchanged! 😆

So here's what I bought back, and some new discoveries too:

1. gallivant.stories : LONDON
Nick's original design cartography packaging is branding-genius; each one is aligned with scent of place's origin. Have admired them for years! LONDON is an addictive velvety rose & leather. Cucumber, violet, suede & sandalwood. No wonder this was an Olfactory Awards finalist. Think London Georgian architecture, earthy lushness..it's a rich rose scent but easily unisex for your man too.

2. gallivant.stories : BERLIN
Woody citrus. Notes of grapefruit, clementine and lemon, black tea and Haitian vetiver. Citrus with rich staying power. Divine.

3. BVLGARI Official ; Bvlgari Eau Parfumée Thé Impérial. Although this scent was formulated in 2017, it's only joined the main collection this year. Previously it was made exclusively for the Bvlgari Hotel & Resort guests only. So if it smells familiar, that's why! A bright, elegant citrus musk, a fragrance that blends East + West. Italian citrus; lemon, mandarin & bergamot, & Sri Lankan black tea.

4. The Merchant of Venice ; Mosca. The Merchant of Venice is an Italian niche perfume house based in Venice. They’re known for these porcelain-style bottles inspired by Murano glass and Venetian art. This bottle is from their Oriental series. It’s a citrus amber scent, with mandarin, & ginger. (I am absolutely kicking myself that I forgot to go back and get this one 🤦‍♀️..next visit! ✅)

Just back from a gloriously sunny UK summer, and my camera role is full of beautiful buildings and fragrance pics.

Spent most of the time being outdoors for hours on end (such a treat!), admiring the architecture, visiting galleries, and of course discovering new fragrance brands (plus some retail therapy - for research purposes).

I can never stop being in awe of this city.

Then and now..it's been almost 10 years. That's how long TEMPLE has been creating the scents of Singapore. It's hard to believe it's been that long!

This Singapore National Day weekend, as we celebrate 61 years, I am just so grateful and tearily proud to be part of Singapore (yes I'm a bit of a proud-crier 🤣🥹)

From a seed of an idea (and question "where are the Singapore fragrances!!) to a brand with over 100 fragrance products devoted to our beloved island home, and a fragrance partner of Singapore's iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore .... it's been a dream to build a business based solely on my falling in love with an island's olfactory botanicals!

Since TEMPLE's first launch at The November 2016 Boutiques Singapore to now, I couldn't be prouder of what my small team and I have achieved...I'll be featuring my team here over the coming weeks, because nobody does it alone and the quiet achievers of the industry are my north stars.

And my thanks and love as always, to you, for loving TEMPLE and bringing our products into your homes, year after year. That privilege is never lost on me 🙏🥹❤️

As an interior designer by trade, I’ve loved and lived with Chinoiserie style my whole life.

It's woven into every corner of my own home's aesthetic, and for years I’ve dreamed of creating a candle in this style, especially for Singapore.

What IS Chinoiserie??
