Why is the main entrance important in traditional Feng Shui?

In traditional feng shui, the main entrance is considered more than simply the way we enter and leave our home.
It is traditionally regarded as an important point where Qi (气) enters the living space, which is why particular attention is often given to the condition and arrangement of the entrance.

Some traditional principles are actually quite simple:

🧹 Keep it clean
👟 Avoid unnecessary clutter
🚪 Keep the pathway unobstructed
🌿 Add greenery thoughtfully
🏡 Create a welcoming transition into the home

Whether or not you practise feng shui, many of these ideas also make practical sense.

What makes a Passorex BTO DoorGap Mat different? 👀

At first glance, it may look like just a simple piece of mat for the gap between your main door and gate.

But before every DIY order leaves us, there's actually quite a bit of preparation behind it.

We add a rubber border for a neater, more finished edge.

We mark cutting guide lines on the backing to make DIY trimming easier when you receive it.

And because the BTO door gap area is sloped, we also include PITTA Anti-Skid Tape to help the mat stay in place better.

These may seem like small details, but they're details we've added based on our experience with actual BTO entrances.

So while you do the final DIY fitting at home, we've already done part of the preparation for you. ✂️🏠

Episode 2: Why do we ask about your gate clearance?

It may seem like a small detail, but gate clearance can determine whether a floor mat is suitable for your entrance.

Different mat materials come in different thicknesses, and not every home has enough clearance for a thicker mat.

If the mat is too thick, your gate may rub against it — or may not open properly at all.

That's why we sometimes ask about your gate clearance before recommending a material.

It's not about making the ordering process complicated. 😊

We'd rather check first than have you receive a beautiful mat that your gate can't open over.

For homes with sufficient clearance, we may recommend our PVC Coil options.

For entrances with very limited clearance, an ultra-slim option such as PITTA may be more suitable.

Every entrance is different, and that's exactly why we check.

**PITTA MAT CARE GUIDE 🏡**
*Not waterproof — so how should you maintain it?*

This is one of the questions we receive quite often about our PITTA Mat.

PITTA is an ultra-slim entrance mat designed especially for homes with **limited gate clearance**. Because of its material construction, it is **not waterproof and is not intended for frequent washing**.

But that doesn't mean it's difficult to maintain. 😊

**For everyday cleaning 🧹**
Regular vacuuming is usually all you need to remove dust, hair and loose dirt from the surface.
No vacuum? No problem. A lint roller works too! ✨

**For small water splashes 💧**
Don't worry about a little water. Use a clean cloth to absorb any excess moisture and allow the mat to **air dry naturally**.

**For stains or dirty spots 🧽**
Spot clean only where necessary. Apply a small amount of water with mild detergent to the affected area and gently clean with a cloth.

Remove any detergent residue with clean water, absorb the excess moisture with a clean cloth, then allow the area to air dry naturally.

**What if the mat gets fully soaked? 🌧️**
If occasional heavy rain or corridor cleaning causes the mat to become very wet, **lift the mat up and allow both the mat and the flooring underneath to dry properly** before placing it back.

**What we don't recommend ❌**
Avoid frequent full washing or soaking of the PITTA Mat. Regular vacuuming and occasional spot cleaning are the recommended ways to maintain it.

And an important reminder:

PITTA isn't designed to be the perfect mat for every entrance.

Its key advantage is its **ultra-slim profile**, making it suitable for homes where thicker entrance mats may interfere with gate movement.

If your entrance is **frequently or directly exposed to heavy rain without shelter**, we'll recommend considering a more suitable material instead.
