Plant care tips 🪷:
🌱 1. Start with Easy Plants. Choose beginner-friendly plants that are low-maintenance: PothosSpider PlantSnake PlantZZ PlantSucculents (e.g., Jade, Aloe Vera)

💧 2. Don’t OverwaterOverwatering is the #1 killer of houseplants.Check the soil before watering. Stick your finger an inch into the soil — if it feels dry, water it.Use pots with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

☀️ 3. Give the Right Amount of LightDifferent plants need different light levels.Bright, indirect light: Most houseplants (like pothos, peace lily).Low light: Snake plant, ZZ plant.Direct sunlight: Succulents, cacti.Place plants near windows but avoid intense, direct afternoon sun unless they love it.

🪴 4. Use Good SoilUse potting mix specific to your plant type:Cactus/succulent soil for succulents.All-purpose potting mix for general houseplants.Avoid using outdoor garden soil indoors.

🍂 5. Watch for Signs of TroubleYellow leaves: Overwatering, poor drainage.Brown leaf tips: Low humidity, underwatering, or over-fertilizing.Wilting: Could mean too much or too little water.

🌿 6. Clean and PruneDust leaves regularly so the plant can photosynthesize.Trim dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant looking good and healthy.

🌡️ 7. Keep the Environment StableMost houseplants prefer temperatures between 60–75°F (16–24°C).Avoid drafts, heating vents, or sudden temperature changes.

🧴 8. Don’t Over-FertilizeFertilize sparingly — about once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).Skip fertilizer in winter when the plant growth slows down.

3 ways that a comfortable home can reduce stress :

* Promotes Relaxation: A comfortable home is designed to encourage relaxation. Soft furnishings, soothing colors, and calming decor create an environment that allows you to unwind and recharge after a long day. Comfortable furniture and cozy spaces provide a sense of physical ease, which in turn helps relax your mind and alleviate stress.
* Provides a Sense of Safety: A comfortable home provides a sense of safety and security. When you’re in a space that feels secure and protected, your body’s stress response is less likely to be triggered. Knowing that you have a cozy and inviting sanctuary to retreat to can help reduce anxiety and promote emotional well-being.
* Minimizes Clutter and Chaos: A cluttered and disorganized home can contribute to feelings of stress and overwhelm. A comfortable home is often well-organized, with a place for everything and everything in its place. When your living space is clutter-free, it’s easier to find what you need, maintain a sense of order, and create a calm environment that supports your mental and emotional well-being.

🌱 Did you know there are 3 ways a bonsai can be born?
Seed grown, cutting grown, or grafted — and yes, you can actually tell the difference just by looking! 👀

🔍 Here's what to look for:

✨ Seed Grown — the trunk flows naturally from root to tip with no interruptions. Perfectly tapered, totally organic.

✨ Cutting Grown — roots emerge from one concentrated point. The trunk is consistent in thickness since it started as a branch.

✨ Grafted — look for a visible scar, bump, or change in texture somewhere on the trunk. That's where two trees were joined together. Most commercial bonsai are grafted!

None of these is necessarily better than the other — but knowing the difference makes you a more informed bonsai parent 🌿💚

🌀 June is right around the corner— and we're stepping into it wrapped in blue.

Blue is the color of calm, clarity, and cosmic trust. It's the sky before the storm clears. It's the ocean holding its breath.

This month at Petals of Pearls, we're leaning into that energy — through our plants, our spaces, and our souls. 💙
