A pair of paintings by Robert Finch with a lot of personality. We love the exaggerated figures, the unexpected colors, and the playful details—from the little yellow bow in “Venus” to the apple in “Unclothed Eve”. There’s something wonderfully unconventional about both compositions. They’re great together, but each has plenty of presence on its own.

We’ve always had a thing for paintings of water, and “The Waves” by American artist Beveridge Moore (1915–2004) is a perfect example. Painted in 1962, it has a wonderful dreamlike quality and a beautiful palette of soft blues, greens, and yellows.

Moore was known for weaving the human figure into landscapes, often with a touch of symbolism. His work can be found in several museum collections, including the Michener Museum and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Pennsylvania artist Robert Finch (1931–2024) spent decades studying the human figure, and his attention to detail really shows in this wonderful reclining portrait. We love the intricate textures, rich layers of color, and all the little details that reveal themselves the longer you look. It’s a generously sized work, and the understated matte silver-toned frame is the perfect complement.

We source vintage from just about everywhere. Private collections, estate sales, auctions, yard sales, and occasionally the side of the road. But there’s something about getting up at 4 a.m. on a chilly fall Sunday and wandering a flea market as the sun comes up. It’s almost therapeutic. My version of a cold plunge, except I get to buy cool s**t.

When people ask why great vintage pieces cost what they do, I sometimes want to ask if they were up at 4 a.m. on Sunday, too. There’s a lot of legwork behind the things we find. And while there’s certainly competition among dealers, there’s also a wonderful sense of camaraderie. Good people, good conversation, and occasionally a great find.

I love my Sunday mornings.

This is the kind of midcentury abstract everyone seems to be looking for. Bold colors, expressive brushwork, and a composition that feels just as relevant today as it did decades ago. Some paintings just never go out of style, and this one certainly checks all the boxes. Love the substantial period frame, too.

We’ve always had pretty eclectic taste, and this one is a good example. We spotted this oversized floral painting tucked away in the warehouse, and it just checked all the boxes. The scale, the muted colors, the almost stucco-like texture. It’s a bit more traditional than some of the pieces we gravitate toward, but put it in a modern setting and something really clicks. When you know, you know, right?

We love it, and hope one of you will too.

We caught some beautiful afternoon light and couldn’t resist taking a photo. Another wonderful painting by New Jersey artist Zipora Lanxner, whose collection we recently acquired. The colors seem to change throughout the day depending on the light, and we love the bold brushwork and unexpected combinations of color.

We’re really digging the pinks in this one. For those who don’t know, I’ve spent much of my career in the hospitality business, where the pineapple has long been a symbol of welcome. So naturally, this painting caught our eye. And who can resist a pineapple?

The painting has wonderful texture and comes in a pretty exceptional carved hardwood frame with gold detailing that, in our opinion, suits it perfectly.

Unless you’ve got $98.4 million lying around for a Rothko, this might be the next best thing.

Serious Rothko vibes from this 1984 oil on canvas. Deep blues, greens, and burgundy tones with a richness that’s hard to capture in photos. A real statement piece, with enough scale to command attention while still working in a variety of spaces.
