On October 28, 1908, cabinetmaker Carl Hansen opened his first workshop in Odense, on the island of Funen, Denmark. What began as an uncompromising dedication to traditional woodcraft grew to define twentieth-century Danish modernism. Through historic partnerships with visionaries such as Hans J. Wegner, Carl Hansen & Søn continues to balance hand joinery with functional longevity, producing pieces intended to be passed down rather than replaced.

Finn Juhl Studio Collection Sale: Finn Juhl presented the 45 Chair at the annual Danish Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1945. Today, the chair is regarded as one of the most revolutionizing and iconic pieces within contemporary furniture design. Finn Juhl was a serious student of art history and his deep understanding of modern art was revealed in the beautiful 45 Chair. With its curved backrest and organic shaped arms, this chair made Finn Juhl one of the leading designers of the 20th century.

Great luxury sometimes comes in small packages. This is one of Hans Wegner's most exquisite chairs and a beautiful work of art. Designed in 1952 the Cow Horn Chair is the immediate follow up to the Round Chair, the breakthrough of Wegner's career. The continuity in shape and philosophy is obvious but designed for a different purpose, Wegner created a smaller chair that would easily fit underneath a table or desk.

Our beautiful Swan Chair was designed in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen to accompany his Egg Chair for the lounge areas of the Royal Scandinavia Hotel in Copenhagen. The chair design contains no straight lines, making it organic and soft, yet simple with a strong architectural appeal. Our showroom piece is upholstered in high quality Espresso Brown Leather with a satin aluminum swivel return base. One showroom piece available at our Carmel-by-the-Sea studio.
