Tonight marks the arrival of Walpurgis Night, known as Valborg in Sweden or Vappu in Finland. Historically, this was a night of liminality, the thin veil between the harsh grip of winter and the promised warmth of spring. The lighting of the fires was not only for warmth, but served as a symbolic purification, a communal effort to ward off the shadows and protect the land as it prepared for new growth.

Walpurgis Night reminds us of the resilience required to endure the dark months and the quiet reverence deserved by the returning light. It is a time for reflection on the cycles of nature and our place within them.

The Broschyr, or ‘Brochure’ rug, one of Kasthall’s most well-known designs, was created by Kasthall's Head of Design Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg to show the endless possibilities of combining colors and patterns within the Kastall Häggå pattern family. The no-name rug was placed on the front page of a Kasthall catalogue that same year, and was ever after called the ‘Broschyr’ rug.
