In this Berlin apartment, the Lapis Sofa System by Amura brings an organic presence to the living room. Its softened forms and modular composition create a setting that feels relaxed and considered, while allowing the space to remain open and adaptable.

The result is a room that feels personal rather than overly arranged—where the furniture becomes part of the way the home is lived in.

The transformation of 222 North LaSalle redefines the arrival experience for one of Chicago’s landmark office buildings. Led by OTJ Architects and SERENDI in collaboration with Tishman Speyer and lighting consultant Schuler Shook, the project reimagines the lobby as a hospitality-inspired destination that blends the building’s historic Art Deco character with contemporary workplace design.

Drawing inspiration from leading European hotels, the redesigned lobby pairs dramatic lighting, rich materiality, and thoughtfully curated furnishings to create an environment that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. A central coffee and cocktail bar, flexible lounge settings, and an indoor-outdoor terrace anchored by a marble fireplace transform a once underutilized space into a vibrant hub for connection, collaboration, and respite. Throughout, contemporary interventions complement and celebrate the building’s original architecture, creating a layered experience that feels both timeless and fresh.

A penthouse in Frankfurt where timeless design feels perfectly at home.

The living room demonstrates how great furniture can move beyond the spaces it was originally intended for. Designed by Tobia Scarpa, the Dialogo Dining Chair sits naturally within the lounge, proving that well-considered proportions and craftsmanship allow a piece to adapt effortlessly across different settings. Alongside it, the Arco Floor Lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni brings its unmistakable silhouette, adding both function and presence without overwhelming the space.

A reminder that the most enduring designs are defined not by where they belong, but by how easily they belong anywhere.
