Would you believe this bathroom was designed around ONE tile?

This guest bathroom wasn’t designed around a vanity, faucet, or light fixture.

It started with one blue tile.

Once the tile was selected, every other decision became easier:
• warm brass fixtures
• custom niche trim
• vessel sink
• arched mirror
• terrazzo flooring

The result feels calm, cohesive, and timeless.

One design decision changed this entire bathroom.

Sometimes the most important design decisions are the ones people barely notice.

People think designers get inspiration from Pinterest.

Sometimes inspiration comes from canyon formations, old ivy climbing architecture, the rhythm of giant cacti against matte walls, or the way desert light hits texture at 4 PM.

Every trip changes the way I think about proportion, materials, contrast, and atmosphere.

Good interiors are not created from trends.
They’re created from observation.

That’s why truly personal spaces feel layered instead of staged.

Behind every beautiful space is thousands of decisions most people never see.

Today my daughter graduated in architecture, and I couldn’t be prouder.

What makes this moment meaningful to me is not just the diploma. It’s knowing how much discipline it takes to think through space, proportion, construction, materials, technical drawings, and the human experience all at once.

This industry needs more people who understand that design is not decoration. Design is problem solving.
