One year ago today, I had a one-year lease, a business plan, and a house full of second hand supplies I’d accumulated over the summer. I brought my entire fabric stash from home to set up my initial fabric “department” - two shelves on a bookshelf.

I was also pretty sure that this whole thing would (probably) work. I, a maker, wanted a creative reuse shop like this in Corning. So others would want a shop like this in Corning too, right?

I look back and see the true weight of miracles in my business plan. I’ve always joked that “my business plan is miracles” …but.

All of you - whether you are shopping, donating, telling your friends and families, or just curiously observing what Amy has gotten herself into this time: You’re a miracle.

Making stuff matters now more than ever. It’s very important that as many people as possible have the materials to make things. Thank you so much, for whatever part you have played in the past year of this Chicken adventure.
