Before the projects and the finished rooms, there were sketchbooks. A city that taught us to look closely — Paris, where it began. Late nights, long friendships, and a shared conviction that how something is built matters as much as how it looks.
Ili and Luly came up alongside a remarkable class of designers, and that community has never really dispersed — it’s grown, branched, and left its mark all over the Southeast. So much of what this city looks like today traces back to those early rooms full of ideas. The practice became Terracotta Design Build. And two decades on, we’re still chasing the same thing we chased in those early drawings: the honest detail, the material that ages well, the room that feels inevitable once you’re standing in it.
The clients who trusted us with their homes. The architects, craftspeople, and trade partners who show up and do the work beautifully, project after project. The friends who’ve been here since the sketchbook days. 🥂
