Update 1 of 2: DIY Flower Buckets

DIY bucket update for this season

I now offer two DIY bucket options:

Grower’s Choice

Premium

I’m also now offering early bird pricing if you reserve early (before the June cutoff).

And if you already reached out about DIY buckets for this year, I’ll honor the original price we discussed.

I’ve raised bucket pricing going forward to better match what other local flower farms are offering, while still keeping things fair for the quality and time that goes into growing and putting these together.

Early bookings help me plan the season better, and they give you a better price for reserving ahead.

If you want current pricing or want help deciding which bucket option fits best, feel free to message me.

(See the post below for the bouquet subscription update.)

Premium DIY Flower Bucket (5-gallon) — Late Season (Aug–Sept) Made for weddings and events that want a more elevated, designer-ready mix. Each five-gallon bucket is packed with fresh, conditioned stems and leans into premium late-season ingredients—richer color, stronger texture, and standout ...

Update 2 of 2: Bouquet Subscriptions

I made an update to my bouquet subscriptions for this season.

I changed them to be more flexible, so now you can choose your dates and how many bouquets you want.

A lot of people have told me the bouquets last a long time, so I wanted to give folks the option to space them out and enjoy flowers over a longer stretch of the season.

And honestly, bouquets lasting a long time is a pretty good problem to have šŸ™‚
When the next one comes in, just tidy up the older one and move it to another room.

I also try to make each week’s bouquet feel like a new little chapter of the season — using what’s looking best and what’s naturally coming into bloom.

I also raised subscription pricing to better match what other local flower farms are offering.

You can also add eggs onto the subscription if you want to make it a little more of a farm pickup/delivery bundle.

If you want help choosing dates or figuring out what option fits best, send me a message.

A lot of people told me something I didn’t expect: the bouquets last so long that they didn’t always want flowers every single week. So instead of locking everyone into a weekly schedule, I’m offering a more flexible subscription this season. Pick your Wednesdays between July 8 and Sept 30, 20...

Even in the quiet months, the farm isn’t quiet.
I pulled together a season-by-season look at the wild birds that make Firefly Hill what it is — and a few moments that still make me stop in my tracks.
Read it here:

Meet the wild birds of Firefly Hill Farm (by season), plus a few notes on the landscape features that make these sightings possible.

Another unique item from Firefly: our Wildwood Wreath.
Framed with grapevines and filled with pieces gathered from every nook and corner of the farm — the woods, the marsh, the prairie, and the garden.
Each wreath tells a story of the land around us.

This year’s batch is sold out. We’ll be taking orders again in late summer and early fall next season.

Challenged to do a porch pot built without using any conifers.

Everything here was harvested or foraged on the farm: bay from my bay tree, golden hops, phlox seed heads, cranberry viburnum, red osier dogwood, cattail, hydrangea, prairie grasses, and naturally shed antlers. All gathered responsibly — no deer harmed.

There’s so much beauty, shape, and texture in the plants around us that we don’t need to add bows, ornaments, or anything flashy.
At Firefly Hill, we try to let things look the way they are — natural, unforced, and true to the landscape here.
This porch pot is a good example of what that looks like in practice.

Hoarfrost morning on the prairie.
Fog froze into long, delicate crystals on every seedhead and grass stem — turning the whole field white for a few hours.
I always wish I could bring hoarfrost indoors and tuck it into a bouquet, but it’s one of those things that only exists for a brief walk and a cold breath.

We’re likely wrapping our fresh-flower season this weekend. Grateful for our local community — and excited to share how we kept bouquets going into November.
We’ll still be offering foraged/dried arrangements and centerpieces through Thanksgiving.
Read the secrets and see what’s still blooming:

*Foraged/Dried Bouquets — Wild-gathered accents from our woods and prairies, paired with farm-dried blooms we couldn’t bear to say goodbye to. Each bouquet is hand-tied, naturally long-lasting, and one-of-a-kind.

On our most recent blog, A Confusion of Guineas: The Beauty and Chaos They Bring, we share what life is really like with these polka-dotted clowns on the farm. From their piercing alarms to their softer chatter that sounds uncannily like the Sesame Street Martians, guineas have a way of filling the farm with both noise and laughter.

We even tell the story of Pops — a father guinea who stepped up in the most unexpected way.

Read the full story here:

There are many critters on our farm, but the guinea fowl are no doubt among the most unique. We love having these beautiful, polka-dotted clowns for many reasons. First and foremost, like any animal here, they’re part of the farm simply because we enjoy hosting them. That said, they bring plenty o...

First fun photo! 🦌 A few deer families have decided to camp out around here. Early in the summer I tried to shoo them along so they wouldn’t get too used to people… but that didn’t work too well. Now they’re regulars, sharing the yard with the chickens and geese.
