Finally: a two-block linoprint of Petoskey stones I'm extremely happy with. This edition is made with two newly carved blocks -- similar to my original 2021 block but not exactly the same -- and printed with traditional oil inks in copper and black.
This block has defined my studio brand and reflects what is so 'purely Michigan' that I've handprinted it over 1,000 times within several different editions. I will not allow it to retire.
Petoskey stones, which are fossilized coral, are frequently depicted in art, but usually with the exact same coral pattern that polished rocks exemplify. They are much more diverse and 'imperfect' in the wild which is what my print aims to celebrate.
