Lately our DMs have one recurring question: how do we work with you?

Here's how ⤵

Full-service design. We take the whole house: architecture and interiors, from the first floor plan to the last picture hung. Every decision gets made with the rest of the home in mind. You weigh in where it matters and skip the rest. Comment CONSULT and we'll send the details.

The Blueprint. Our complete design plan for one room or several. Layout, finishes, lighting, and a sourcing list with every piece already chosen. You handle the purchasing and installation (and yes, it works from anywhere). Comment BLUEPRINT and it goes straight to your inbox.

The Design Method. Our Substack, where we explain the thinking behind the work, usually with more opinions than fit in a caption. Comment SUBSTACK for the link.

Most people want to start with the fun parts: paint, furniture and art. But those choices are much easier to make once the bigger, more permanent decisions are in place.

That’s why we work from the permanent elements outward, saving the things that are easy to change for last. When a room feels almost finished, it may not be a question of taste. Sometimes the decisions just happened out of order.

If you’re planning a project and aren’t sure where to begin, DM us your question!

Our client wanted a bed and breakfast, only more modern, in the barn turned guest house on her Greenwich, Connecticut property.

The kitchen is a narrow galley, so every appliance we could move went under the counter. Floating shelves replaced the uppers and let the window light through.

We were hoping to find original beams under the painted sheetrock. There weren't any. So now there are.

The full tour, room by room, is on our YouTube channel. Comment GUEST HOUSE and we'll send you the link.

Jessica has a rule. No recessed lights.

Jessica also has a basement with seven-foot ceilings, no interior walls, a ping-pong zone, a TV area, a banquette corner, and plans for a neon sign that says OPEN 24 HOURS over the popcorn station.

Let's just say the rule did not survive the basement.

The full lighting plan is LIVE on Substack, including how she used fixtures instead of walls to define five different zones, the one area where she had to break her own rule, and exactly how playful a snack bar is allowed to get before it tips into 1990s suburban.

Comment SUBSTACK and we'll send you the link!

Old homes with personality aren’t defined by one particular style. It’s the mix of original character, thoughtful updates and personal details that makes them feel like they belong to the people who live there.

That’s the beauty of making an old home feel like itself.

If this is your vibe, then you're in the right place.

Revisiting , a Ridgewood project we completed last year, because this time of year belongs to its living room.

This was the formal room. Austere, rarely used, the kind of space a family walks past on the way to somewhere else. The easy fix would have been to paint the trim and call it bright. We kept the wood and changed everything that decides whether anyone sits down.

Tudors are famously dim. So the light is layered, and the fabrics come in saturated, light-reflective colorways that catch it and hand it back to the room. The seating is meant for staying, not for show. A few quiet woodland nods (branches in the lighting, a forest creature or two in the textiles) keep the room from taking itself too seriously.

Want to see the full project? Watch us walk through the space on Youtube. Comment WOODLAND and we will send you the link!

I think this might be our favorite kind of room. The deep greens, warm browns and layered plaids feel especially right this time of year, and the fireplace makes it even harder not to settle in with a good book and stay awhile.

It just feels like autumn.

Although this is a summer house, we designed this den to be enjoyed all four seasons. The deeper, moodier palette makes it feel especially cozy in cooler months, while the camel-colored sofa brings in warmth. And instead of painting the walls black, we chose black grasscloth, adding texture and depth as it meets the cabinetry.
