This palette started on the water in Guatemala.⁠
⁠
The blue came from the weathered paint on the boat. The white had been faded by the sun. The sand brought in warmth, and the natural straw of a fisherman’s hat gave me the neutral that pulled everything together.⁠
⁠
I photograph combinations like this constantly when I’m traveling. Not because I’m looking for “inspiration,” but because I’m looking for color relationships that feel unexpected and still work beautifully in a room.⁠
⁠
Back in the design process, those observations become conversations with our artisan partners: How should the blue shift? How much natural fiber should show? Which colors should repeat across different patterns so the pieces can live together without matching?⁠
⁠
This particular palette is now appearing across several RB Curated pillows, which means they can be mixed across a sofa, bed, or room while still feeling connected.⁠
⁠
That is one of my favorite parts of developing the collection: taking something I noticed in Guatemala and translating it into textiles that designers and homeowners can actually use.⁠

The journey up Acatenango was not easy, but waking up to this view made every step worth it. 🌋

Guatemala is deeply connected to both RB Curated and Regan Billingsley Interiors. It’s where relationships with artisans, a respect for traditional craftsmanship, and a deeper understanding of place have shaped so much of how I think about design.

Being here reminds me that the most meaningful homes, and the objects we choose to live with, come from connection. Connection to people, to craft, to culture, and to the stories behind the things we bring into our spaces.

That is what I want both RBI and RB Curated to continue building: lasting relationships and meaningful experiences rooted in originality, craftsmanship, and a genuine sense of place.

Some journeys change the view. The best ones change the way you see.

As a designer, I know performance matters. A textile has to stand up to real life, including the dog who thinks every sofa, chair, or ottoman belongs to them.⁠

But when I created RB Curated, I wanted our textiles to offer something more. I wanted them to become the piece a client asks about. Who made this? Where is it from? What does the pattern mean?⁠

Because the best textiles don’t just perform. They add meaning to the homes we design.⁠
