In 1908, following the Monongah mining disaster in West Virginia, Grace Golden Clayton proposed a church service to honor fathers, particularly the victims of the tragedy. In 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd, a daughter raised by a single father veteran proposed a holiday for fathers. In 1910, Washington State celebrated the first official statewide Father's Day on June 19 and in 1972, President Rochard Nixon signed it into law. On this holiday, we celebrate our dad, grandfathers and father figures who shaped us with their love, strength, wisdom, etc. Civital Circle's crew wishes our customers, vendors, families and friend a fabulous Father's Day filled with love, appreciation and fun.

Some cushions/seats on boats can be abused and damaged more than other cushions. Civitas Circle's customer needed two seats completely rebuilt for his boat. After removing old seat vinyl covers, we recreated patterns of already disintegrating wooden boards and foam panels. We used 3/4" thick HDPE sheets to fabricate new boards; drilled drainage holes in them and fuse them to DF marine firm foam panels. We eliminated dark green panels, made custom welting and sew new vinyl covers. After wrapping marine foam in silk film, we fitted new covers, stapled them to HDPE boards and finished the edges with gimp. Our customer can invite his friends for a boat ride with no fear of breaking the seats. Visit us at 61 Oakwood Road in Lake Zurich for your marine projects.

Memorial Day, originally, Decoration Day, is a federal holiday honoring and mourning the military personnel who had died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. On May 30, 1868, mourners honored the Civil War dead by decorating their graves with flowers, hence "Decoration Day." In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day a federal holiday to be celebrated the last Monday in May at Arlington National Cemetery with a ceremony in which a small American flag is placed on each grave. As we honor and salut to fallen soldiers, we wish our customers, vendors, friends and families a meaningful, peaceful and respectful Memorial Day. None of us should never forget....

Civitas Circle's customers purchased an older Master Craft in great shape but in need of some upgrades. Most important was the need for a new wall to wall carpeting and on the engine cover. After we removed the old carpet and debris underneath, we sanded the floor up to the boat's nose, washed it and prepared it for the adhesive. We used vinyl woven Infinity carpet with rubber backing in soft gray/black/white color hue. and placed it on the entire floor. Ready for replace carpet on the bottom of the engine cover, we discovered disintegrated foam which we replaced with thermozin, double sided with aluminum foil. Finaly, we replaced a wooden board with HDPE and foam with new DF marine foam on the Aft bench and opened and retightened vinyl cover on a bolster. Although, many people use word "canvas" when talking describing boat covers, Enclosures, Dodgers, Bimini, in reality acrylic yarn fabric, polyesters and nylons are used to fabricate boat covers. Civitas Circle's customer approached us to fabricate a new full enclosure for his Sea Ray Sundancer. We changed the original black color to warm beige in Italian acrylic yarn fabric in combination with black marine zippers and black webbing. While using his old enclosure for basic patterns, we had made several changes in design and dimensions. First fitting was for the sizing of all panels and marking zippers' positions for which we used a portable sewing machine when on the boat. Second fitting, already on the water, was done to have all zippers, windows, snaps and tunels matching. At the third visit, we installed the enclosure which, according to our customer, "fit like a glove." Visit us at 61 Oakwood Road in Lake Zurich for you boat projects.

As the new furniture tends to be overpriced and of low quality materials and labor, Civitas Circle's customers opt for reupholstering their furniture pieces in order to preserve quality of wood/frames/construction and select materials unique to their taste. Our customers made such a choice on their old ottoman which was built from quality wood, not playwood or MDF. We combined two tapestry fabrics, solid and animal print, fabricated matching welting, steamed and disinfected foam, touch up frames, replaced batting, tigthly covered the foam with new cover, and combined both fabrics for a bottom skirt. In addition, we made two bolsters from the animal print fabric to accentuate the family room sofa and unify it with a new look of the ottoman.
