Why is my recliner so uncomfortable?

This is what most modern recliners look like underneath the layers of padding. Newer versions are made of disposable pressed/glued/particle board and elastic webbing. It isn't disposable; it can't be recycled or combusted for energy. This is why your foam feels bad and fails so fast.

Yes, even the big name brands.

This is a very premium brand, known for their leather. This a slap in the face to the money spent on this reclining loveseat, even if you take the (cheap, comparatively) reclining mechanism and leather into account.

This is not OK.

This 3rd generation cornet case was damaged in a basement flood. We gave it a full interior restoration: stripped and cleaned, new chipboard, raw cotton and saturated blue velvet, plus handmade velvet corner guards and upholstered holders. Exterior cleaning and conditioning, plus edge protection made with butter soft leather from our friends at Roden Leather Company.

Made in Italy, likely 1890 - 1930, give or take. The stunning rose velvet is Greenhouse Fabrics S7207 Cranberry.
