As Downtown Memphis continues to celebrate the story of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and its home in the historic Customs House, we’re proud to reflect on our role in helping bring new life to one of Memphis’ most iconic buildings.

Originally designed in partnership to transform the historic U.S. Customs House, Court House, and Post Office into a modern law school, this adaptive reuse project balanced preservation with innovation, creating a space that honors Memphis history while serving future generations of legal professionals.

We’re grateful to have played a part in preserving this landmark and shaping a place that continues to make Memphis proud.

We’re excited to see Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South continue investing in the next generation through the new JA BizTown experience.

4FDesign was proud to provide architectural design for the building, the Junior Achievement tenant infill, and each of the interactive storefront environments that bring this hands-on learning experience to life for students across the region.

Experiences like JA BizTown empower students through real-world, hands-on learning while building confidence, leadership, and life skills. We’re grateful for opportunities to partner with nonprofits throughout Memphis to help create spaces that strengthen children, schools, and communities.

At Junior Achievement’s JA BizTown, fifth and sixth graders run a mini city and take jobs at storefronts that represent major Memphis organizations.

We’re proud to see the improvements to Dryden Auditorium at Freed-Hardeman University completed just in time for graduation season 🎓

The project included a new porte cochere, exterior façade enhancements, and interior improvements designed to elevate the experience for students, families, faculty, and guests.

Graduation season is a meaningful reminder of the role educational spaces play in bringing campus communities together for milestone moments. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with schools and universities across the region to create environments that support learning, connection, and celebration.

4FDesign is proud to partner on the new Jim Heinz Athletic Center, an investment in student-athletes, community, and the future of ECS. This project will elevate facilities and create opportunities for growth, competition, and connection for years to come.

Exciting news for ECS! 🦅

We are thrilled to announce that construction will begin this summer on the Jim Heinz Athletic Center, a new student-athlete development facility on our Shelby Farms campus.

The new facility will include a weight room, boys and girls locker rooms, athletic offices and an outdoor turf training space. It will be located between the north end zone of Legends Field and the south entrance to Eagle Hall, adjacent to the Legacy Center, creating a centralized hub for ECS athletics.This facility will serve our entire athletic program while also creating new opportunities for Fine Arts and baseball and softball through the renovation of existing facilities.

Named in memory of ECS legend and Tennessee Hall of Fame Coach Jim Heinz, this center reflects a legacy of excellence and a commitment to developing student-athletes for Christ.

We are grateful for the support of our community that is making this vision a reality — and we can’t wait to see how God uses it in the lives of our students.
