Corvaux, 40% off. Cerused oak with the grain drawn out by hand, brass inlay set line by line, a turned sphere repeating at the feet. The credenza is the piece people stop in front of.

Candlelight gets all the credit, but it cannot light a room on its own. A chandelier gives the table its center. Sconces warm the walls and take the pressure off the ceiling. A flush mount fills in where a chandelier would be too much.

The plates decide more about it than anything else. Hanami, where the glaze pools and drifts so no two pieces come out alike, in Indigo or Sand. Akita in bronze and umber stoneware, matte and substantial. Dahlia, scalloped, the rim rippling like a shell. Bruges in hand-painted blue and white, with a banded border and a rosette at every center.

How does a room register before you have thought about it?

That question is where this collaboration began. On October 7, Métaphores debuts Fragments at 161 Grand Street, a new capsule in wool, cotton and linen. Yarns become fuller. Structures reveal themselves. Supple bouclé, oversized slub yarns that create relief, nuanced color accents.

You will see it on sofas, accent chairs, benches, the Pierre Jeanneret dining chairs, pillows and full-height drapery.
