Founded in 1996 by artists, Janis Provisor and Brad Davis, Fort Street Studio is world renowned for its painterly hand-knotted carpets that combine the traditional with modern, sophisticated aesthetics. The company is widely recognized for its creations, and has mounted highly acclaimed exhibitions in Paris, London and Milan. The brand’s products are regularly featured in the editorials of the most prestigious publications such as The World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, and Galerie among others. Fort Street Studio operates from its New York City flagship showroom in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. Golden Eye: a sandstone palette of dusty, sun-warmed neutrals woven in wool and mohair, its rhythmic pattern fleecy and soft in a way that has nothing to do with quiet.

It has since found its way into many rooms. In each one, it arrives the way a good story does - already familiar, impossible to place.

Corteza has always had something to say - color layered over color, motif over motif, the whole composition alive with a kind of quiet electricity.

Hand-knotted in hand-processed Himalayan wool and silk, the silk lifts each thread toward the light while the wool holds it to the earth. THĒ CAPPIELLO placed it at the center of an informal Tribeca dining room, where its scrim-like layers do what good conversation does: draw everyone in, and keep them there.

There is a particular stillness that only certain rooms know how to hold - neither entirely serious nor entirely soft, balanced somewhere between dark wood and gauzy light.

Inside N°33 Park Row, THĒ CAPPIELLO imagined the Park Library and Lounge as exactly that kind of place: a black leather Jacques Adnet table from GUBI, Normann Copenhagen poufs, and drapes that diffuse the lower Manhattan light into something quieter. Underneath it all, Magazine Gap in Buff - bands of dusty desert rose and stone that move through the room the way a pattern should: organically and unhurried.

Some rooms take decades to become themselves.

This Tribeca library by THĒ CAPPIELLO was built around a single antique secretary - and everything followed from there: Utrecht armchairs from Cassina, a Francesco Balzano daybed with an onyx side table, Holland & Sherry Interiors upholstery, objects from different eras that somehow always belonged together. Underneath it all, Ground in pure silk - camel and cognac, warm and quiet - holds the room in its particular golden light.

Janis Provisor arrived at Ian Fleming’s Jamaican estate, GoldenEye, and painted a world that didn’t quite exist yet. Golden Eye began there - sultry, sun-drenched, the kind of place where the air itself feels like it has a secret.

Woven in wool and mohair, its sandstone palette and rhythmic pattern carry that same charged stillness: fleecy, plush, warm in a way that has nothing to do with temperature.

THĒ CAPPIELLO brought it into a Tribeca residence and let it do what it does - hold a room in a spell it can’t quite explain.

Cocoa deepening toward the edges, cream pooling at the center - the gradient in this custom rug moves the way light moves across a room: gradually, inevitably, as if it couldn’t have happened any other way.

THĒ CAPPIELLO worked with Paul Melo to coax that ombré from one end of the loom to the other, in a 50-50 wool and silk blend chosen for the particular sheen it produces - warm, alive, impossible to replicate. Beneath a ten-foot Amalfi marble table and a plaster-and-bronze chandelier by Studio Eric Schmitt, the rug holds the room together without announcing itself. A Tribeca dining room, fully realized.

Every carpet begins the same way Janis Provisor does - with water, pigment, and something worth chasing.

Otto in Blood Orange started on paper, in the colors of a hilltop sunset in Roccantica, before it was ever a knot. Hand-knotted in high-altitude wool and cultivated silk, the yarns are dyed to hold that same luminous depth - warm, burning, impossible to pin down.
