Janis Provisor arrived at Ian Fleming’s Jamaican estate, GoldenEye, and painted a world that didn’t quite exist yet. Golden Eye began there - sultry, sun-drenched, the kind of place where the air itself feels like it has a secret.

Woven in wool and mohair, its sandstone palette and rhythmic pattern carry that same charged stillness: fleecy, plush, warm in a way that has nothing to do with temperature.

THĒ CAPPIELLO brought it into a Tribeca residence and let it do what it does - hold a room in a spell it can’t quite explain.

Cocoa deepening toward the edges, cream pooling at the center - the gradient in this custom rug moves the way light moves across a room: gradually, inevitably, as if it couldn’t have happened any other way.

THĒ CAPPIELLO worked with Paul Melo to coax that ombré from one end of the loom to the other, in a 50-50 wool and silk blend chosen for the particular sheen it produces - warm, alive, impossible to replicate. Beneath a ten-foot Amalfi marble table and a plaster-and-bronze chandelier by Studio Eric Schmitt, the rug holds the room together without announcing itself. A Tribeca dining room, fully realized.

Every carpet begins the same way Janis Provisor does - with water, pigment, and something worth chasing.

Otto in Blood Orange started on paper, in the colors of a hilltop sunset in Roccantica, before it was ever a knot. Hand-knotted in high-altitude wool and cultivated silk, the yarns are dyed to hold that same luminous depth - warm, burning, impossible to pin down.

The sunset over Roccantica burned long enough for Janis Provisor to paint it.

What emerged was the shape of an eight - Otto, in Italian, and the luckiest number she could have chosen. Hand-knotted in high-altitude wool and cultivated silk, the colors shift the way a painting does: differently depending on where you stand, and what the light is doing.

As we step into a new chapter as FSS by STARK Carpet, we find ourselves looking back - at the rooms that stayed with us, the floors that became part of a place.

Some things are content to be beautiful without explanation - a watercolor bleed of blue and green, crossed diamonds drifting across the floor of a villa where the sea is just outside the door. Yabu Pushelberg designed Raffles Sentosa Singapore to rest quietly between white-sand shore and forested hillside, and asked for something underfoot that felt inevitable. Fort Street Studio reworked KITE over the course of several weeks until the palette belonged entirely to the place.

Every good thing moves before it settles.

Some things find their way to you slowly - the right collaboration, the right shore, the right light.

Where white-sand beach meets forested hillside, Raffles Sentosa Singapore asked for something that could live quietly inside that beauty, and not compete with it. Fort Street Studio - now part of the STARK family - worked alongside Yabu Pushelberg to produce custom hand-tufted rugs for more than sixty villas and presidential residences, among them a painterly reworking of Kite: fifteen colors painstakingly recharted over several weeks until the palette felt like it had always belonged there.

Celleste recasts this otherwise serene, art-filled New York dining room by local design duo with a new charge, delivered through a dynamic composition in raised cut-pile silk.

Conceived by artist and Fort Street Studio cofounder through a freehand study, the motifs nod to cellular life in flux, suggesting the proliferation of trillions of units within a single system. The design advances through accumulation over repetition, which—together with its rich ruby hue—creates a sense of continuous motion suited to a place of daily gathering.
