We really let ourselves have fun with color and pattern on this project. The client wanted the home to feel vibrant, layered and rich, with just the right amount of glamour.

Early on, she gave us what she called the “wrong shoe” analogy: the idea that a room shouldn’t feel perfectly matched or overly considered, but collected. A little unexpected. Beautiful things that don’t necessarily belong together, but overall look more interesting, intentional, and full of personality. That concept became a thread throughout the house. Bold pattern, saturated color, unexpected pairings and pieces made with incredible craftsmanship, all layered together in a way that feels personal rather than prescribed. I love going on these kinds of journeys with clients, when their point of view gives us permission to push things a little further and create something that could only belong to them.

In Moroccanoil’s Marketing Office in New York, the stained glass
pattern repeats itself often enough that your eye stops registering
individual objects and starts reading it as rhythm instead allowing
the product itself to take center stage. We added vintage Blenko
glass bottles in Moroccanoil blue to offset the linear shapes. We
love working with branding teams to come up with something unique to highlight their product.

It’s so satisfying seeing the sketch turned into reality. The brief for this hotel suite was that everyone should be allowed to be loud in it. A pool table in the middle, bronze mirror cut above the bar so the light bounces around, and a window that runs the length of the wall in the sitting area. A suite like this one gives people the space to enjoy themselves fully.
