I'm remodeling my house. I'm confused about what to do with this small dining room. I was thinking of an accent wall, molding, or something to set it apart. I'm also changing all the flooring throughout to wood-like tile. Everything will be lighter with gold accents. Ideas?

We’re having a little debate over here about this bathroom remodel, and I need some outside opinions! 😅 I really like how everything is starting to come together, but there’s one detail that keeps catching my eye—the door color compared to the walls.

To me, the bright white door and trim seem to clash a little with the warmer beige/taupe wall color. I can’t decide if the contrast looks clean and intentional or if the undertones just aren’t working together.

Now I’m wondering whether we should leave the door white, repaint it a warmer shade, change the wall color instead, or just finish decorating the bathroom before making another decision. Sometimes it’s so hard to judge these things in the middle of a remodel!

What do you all think? Does the white door work with these walls, or would you change one of the colors? I’d love some fresh eyes on this before we do anything else. 🏠💕

I’m at that point where I keep looking around this room and wondering what I should add, what I should change, and what I should finally let go. 😉😘

I really love how bright and comfortable the space feels, especially with all the natural light coming through the windows. The gray sectional gives us plenty of seating, and I’ve tried to keep everything soft and neutral with the pillows, curtains, rug, coffee table, flowers, and simple artwork.

But now I’m wondering if it’s a little too neutral or if it just needs a few finishing touches to bring everything together. Maybe a little color, different artwork, a plant, warmer accessories, or something else I haven’t thought of yet.

So tell me—what would you add to this room, and what would you remove or change? I’m open to ideas! Would you keep the calm neutral look or introduce a little more color and personality? 😉😘

**Help me choose a cabinet color! 🌿**

I’m getting ready to paint my kitchen cabinets and originally had my heart set on **SW Evergreen Fog** because I’ve seen it used in so many beautiful kitchens.

But in *my* space, it’s reading much more blue than I expected. That’s the sample on the right.

The sample on the left is **SW Clary Sage**, and I think I may actually like it better in this lighting.

What do you think? Would you go with Evergreen Fog or Clary Sage for the cabinets? I’d love to hear from anyone who has used either color in their kitchen.

**Help me choose a backsplash for my English coastal cottage-inspired kitchen! 🌿🏡**

I have a pretty builder-grade home, and I’m trying to give it more of a **cute English coastal cottage** feel.

I’ve already chosen the color palette, but I’m completely stuck on the backsplash — especially because the existing granite is **dark and very busy**.

Here’s the plan:

* **SW Mountain Stream** — lower cabinets
* **SW Composed** — accent wall in the dining room, which is open to the kitchen
* **SW Natural Linen** — main walls, and possibly upper cabinets too
* **SW Coastal Plain** — front entry beadboard, with Natural Linen above

I originally thought about doing a **stone backsplash**, but I’m worried that with the movement in the granite it would just be too much.

I now have **13 backsplash samples**, because apparently I enjoy making simple decisions impossible. 😂

**EDIT:** I’m getting lots of feedback on the paint colors, and I really do appreciate everyone trying to help, but I’m specifically looking for advice on the **backsplash** and how to tie the existing palette together. The colors are staying.

**EDIT AGAIN:** Added photos of the tile options because, in hindsight, that probably would’ve been useful from the beginning. 😅

Please **heart your favorite**, and I’d also love any recommendations for other tiles, layouts, or patterns that would work with a busy dark granite while still giving that English coastal cottage feel.

I have absolutely no idea how to make this little front entry feel more inviting, and I’d love some fresh ideas! Right now there’s a lot of brick and concrete, so while it has plenty of character, it feels a little bare and unfinished to me.

I’m already planning to **paint the front door black**, which I think will give the entrance some contrast and work nicely with the brick and existing black light fixture. But after that, I’m stuck on what else this space needs to make it feel warm and welcoming.

My biggest question is the **built-in brick planter** on the right. What would you do with it? Fill it with greenery, flowers, ornamental grasses, or something that stays attractive most of the year? I’m also wondering whether adding a doormat or small outdoor rug, a couple of planters near the door, or some simple seasonal decor would help without making this narrow area feel crowded.

I’d really like to work with the original brick instead of covering or changing it. The goal is just to make the entrance feel intentional, cozy, and welcoming while keeping things relatively simple.

If this were your front porch, what would you put in that built-in planter, and what else would you add? I’m open to any ideas because I’m completely stuck on this one! 🏡❤️

Thank you all so much for the fantastic ideas and input! I’ve decided to leave the cabinets as they are for a little while and live in the house before making any major decisions.

For now, I do plan to:

* Add a backsplash under the cabinets and around the window
* Give the wood a really good cleaning
* Update the cabinet pulls

I also used ChatGPT to create a mock-up, which I’ve included.

I’m in the process of buying a house, and this is the kitchen. Unfortunately, it’s the only photo I have at the moment.

The cabinet color and wood grain feel a bit dated to me, and I’m considering painting them to freshen up the space for the next few years while I settle in and figure out a longer-term kitchen remodel plan.

The countertops are **brand new quartz**, which the seller installed before listing the house, so those will be staying.

I already have a few ideas that ChatGPT helped mock up, but I’d love to see what the creative minds here would suggest.

If this were your kitchen, what direction would you go to make it feel more updated while working with the new countertops?
