It’s official! First place! 🏆

The results of the Ivy Lane High Gloss Challenge are in, and I couldn’t be more grateful!

First, THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to vote, share, and cheer me on. I genuinely appreciate every bit of support! And, special thanks to my client!!

One of my favorite things about this challenge was getting to connect with so many other women who share a love for transforming furniture. High gloss is no easy feat, and it was so much fun sharing ideas, troubleshooting, and cheering each other on throughout the process.

And one of the women I had the pleasure of mentoring took SECOND PLACE! I can’t tell you how excited I was for her!

Another highlight was being able to gift a sprayer from my winnings, thanks to the generosity of WAGNER DIY Lisa Goforth | Ivy Lane Home + UGC

I’ve always hoped Etz Modern Vintage would be about more than creating beautiful furniture. Being able to share what I’ve learned, encourage other women, and celebrate their successes is a pretty wonderful part of this journey.

I’m so proud of this piece, grateful for the recognition, and even more grateful for the people who made this experience so special.

A couple of years ago, I showed this client some of my work. She looked at it, then pulled up the work of another furniture artist and showed it to me.

High gloss. Bold. Completely different from what I was doing at the time. I wasn’t offended. I was intrigued.

I remember looking at it and thinking: I need to know how to do THAT.

Not copy or compete with it. I wanted to learn the skill well enough to eventually take it somewhere of my own.

So I did.

Learning high gloss completely changed the trajectory of my work. And somewhere along the way, it gave me the confidence to stop asking whether an idea was too much and start asking whether I could actually pull it off.

This chair is the full-circle version of that story.

It’s not really about the chair.

It’s about what happens when something shows you there’s another level—and you decide to go get it.

Two years ago tonight, I worked my last event at The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City.

Luxury weddings.
Corporate galas.
Twelve-hour days in heels.
Managing details no one else even noticed.

And honestly… I was good at it.

There’s a certain kind of pressure that comes with high-end events. You learn how to create atmosphere. Emotion. Experience. You learn timing, presentation, refinement, problem solving, composure.

What I didn’t know then was that those same skills would follow me into an entirely different life.

Two years ago, I walked away from stability and titles and stepped fully into building Etz Modern Vintage.

No guarantees.
No roadmap.
Just vision, instinct, and a garage full of furniture.

Since then, there have been moments of exhaustion, doubt, risk, growth, creativity, reinvention… and moments where I’ve stood back and realized:

I’m not just refinishing furniture.

I’m building a life that actually looks like me.

That’s the real success story.
