You know what our favorite alternative to a rocker in a nursery is? A day bed! While it's stationary, it tends to outlast the baby-phase better than any other piece of furniture. A day bed functions wonderfully for cozy family time together, is perfect for reading books to toddlers, and transitions to a big-kid bed with ease. Plus, it's a great spot for parents to sleep during those nights where you just have to be within arms reach.

This nursery isn't for a baby. It's for every life-stage. It's curated to be a pleasant, inviting, and comforting space for parents, infants, siblings, and more. It will grow with this little kiddo. The crib becomes a toddler bed and then a full-sized frame. The changing station converts to a simple dresser. The fairytale forest wallpaper? That doesn't change at all. 📸

For this whole home remodel in Newberg, OR, we focused on the details, adding an architectural colonnade between the kitchen and living room and utilizing a number of trim profiles and a variety of hardware in the kitchen. The dusky teal color and dark countertops ground the center of the home with a certain moodiness. Can you find the refrigerator? Once again I used my favorite Designer Series panel-ready fridge that just simply disappears!

This room used to be all white: the walls, the trim, the fireplace. It was boring and lifeless and didn't accentuate any of the lovely, original details of the house. We brought in a light neutral on the walls and went with a contrasting charcoal fireplace. Suddenly the room sprang to life! 📸:
