I’m so excited to finally launch my winter project: meticulously recreated historical houses from the Strawbery Banke Museum!

First in the series is the Yeaton-Welsh House, originally constructed around 1795 by Thales G. Yeaton at 4 Mast Street in Portsmouth. Built as a rental property for local craftsmen and laborers, this historic home has now been reimagined in miniature form.

The collection is available as:
• a large two-unit birdhouse
• a smaller single-unit birdhouse
• an indoor keepsake featuring integrated LED lighting

All pieces are now available in the Strawbery Banke gift shop. I’m incredibly proud to share this project and honored to help celebrate Portsmouth history through these recreations.

I've been working on this for a bit but wanted to surprise my clients before it hit social media. West End Birdies is in the market for custom house design. I've just completed 32 Manning in Strawbery Banke here in Portsmouth. Here's some quick comparisons between the house (built in 1750, making it one of the oldest houses in the city).

I've been working on a fresh flock of Birdies -- rolling all the way back to where it began with my first birdhouse. I found the design in a few places online and tried to figure out how to produce it using a laser cutter. One year later, we have a fresh flock back in stock. I try to make my houses as bird-friendly as possible while keeping things playful. This time around I've kept the lower hole open and closed the top two. Guidance says the opening to the house should be 7" from the bottom of the house. This one is pretty close.
