After sharing all those close-ups this week, you can now see how the six cards came together and take a closer look at some of the details.

I used traditional browns, light blues and gray-blues for the pinecones, along with decorative masks, embossed backgrounds, specialty paper and layered evergreen branches. I also changed the sentiments so the cards can be used for winter wishes, thank-you notes and those times when you simply want someone to know you’re thinking about them.

Not every winter card needs to be a Christmas card.

The Frosted Pinecones stamp set includes sentiments that work for thank-you cards, winter wishes and simple notes to let someone know you’re thinking about them.

Pinecones and evergreen branches can carry you well beyond December too. Change the sentiment and these designs could easily work for a winter birthday, encouragement card or masculine thank-you card.

Can we talk about those decorative masks for a minute? Look at all the color and shading they add to this pinecone!

Each mask adds another layer of color, so you can build the lighter areas, shadows and little details without having to color every section by hand. The finished pinecone looks like it took forever, but the masks do so much of the work for you.

I used shades of blue for this one, and I really like how all those layers bring the stamped image to life. It’s also a fun way to try color combinations you might not normally choose for a pinecone.

I went back to traditional colors for this pinecone—light tan against a rich brown background.

Using lighter and darker shades from the same color family helps all those pretty stamped details stand out instead of getting lost. I added evergreen branches, an embossed background and loops of twine to give the card even more texture while keeping that natural, outdoorsy look.

If you were making this card, which color combination would you choose?

Soft pastel blues and greens have become one of my favorite colors for winter cards.

It still feels wintry when it’s paired with white and Pine but it’s a nice change from using dark blue on every card. I added just a little darker shading to the pinecone so all those pretty sections didn’t disappear into one another.

Here’s today’s Frosted Pinecones peek—and this one has a little sparkle!

Instead of stamping and coloring these pinecones, I layered the detailed die cuts over specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s an easy way to add shimmer without having glitter all over your craft table. 😉

The evergreen branches, embossed background and silver ribbon add even more texture, but the soft blue and white colors keep everything from feeling too busy.

This is one of my favorite ways to use specialty paper because even a small piece can make a big difference. Have you ever tried using specialty paper for your die-cut pieces?

A little peek at something I’ve been working on with the new Frosted Pinecones Bundle. 😊

I started this card with warm, traditional pinecone colors, then added several different textures to keep all those shades of brown from blending together.

That’s a helpful little trick when you’re working with a mostly neutral color palette: mix embossed cardstock, smooth cardstock and a little twine so each layer still stands out.

This is the first of six cards in my new Frosted Pinecones Card Workshop. I’ll be sharing more little peeks over the next few days!

This layout pairs Hydrangea Hue with Peaceful Pine… two colors I probably wouldn’t have thought to put together, but look how pretty they are!

Tomorrow I’ll show you more and explain the different ways you can make all eight pages.

Here’s another little peek at my Bloom Boutique Scrapbook Kit… and this time we’re switching from Golden Glow to Barely Blush and Lost Lagoon. 🌸

I mixed the Boutique Blossoms die cuts with pieces from the Here & Now Ephemera—and they look like they were made to go together.

Okay… who knew Barely Blush and Lost Lagoon would be this pretty together? Have you tried this color combo yet?
