TJ's Woodgrain Works

TJ's Woodgrain Works Handcrafted Wood/Acrylic Jewelry and Wood Projects T. J.’s Woodgrain Works was founded 11/03/2021 from a life long love of woodworking. Scoggins aka “Popcorn”.

It was 100 years to the day of the birth of the man, the legend himself, my grandfather, J.R. The man who created so many masterpieces out of wood. Many of which can still be found in any one of the family and friends homes, or a multitude of other places that still cherish those masterpieces. Many of the tools used today in our projects were passed down from him. Some of which happen to be very c

lose to the same age as me this year. Some of which he used to build my first desk shortly after I was born. A desk I still own, my son used when he was younger, and one that I will one day pass on to my grandchildren. A desk that has survived two rambunctious and destructive little boys for close to 40 years after being built. So to say we were not founded on quality is an understatement. Is it a coincidence that on the 100th anniversary of his birthday our first birdhouse project began? A bird house that would retrigger the passion of woodworking. A birdhouse that lead to what has formed into what T. J.’s Woodgrain Works is today. Handcrafted masterpieces to be shared with the world. Coincidence! I think not, It was truly meant to be. His legacy will live on from the same tools and skills from all those years ago. So please take some time to admire what has come from the Woodgrain Works Shop and if something catches your eye let us know.

‼️New Item Alert‼️

“Fog” Acrylic Bottle Stopper — $30

Forged from a swirl of mist and mischief, Fog is the kind of bottle stopper that arrives with opinions. The acrylic shifts like trapped weather, the stainless ring adds a clean edge, and the rubber seal grips bottles with the confidence of a creature claiming its hoard.

Fog looks gentle, but it carries the unruly spirit of a nocturnal troublemaker rearranging your bar cart just to see what happens. No two swirls match. No two moods repeat. Fog chooses the bottle — not the other way around.

Ideal for wine, whiskey, oils, elixirs, or anything you’re saving for later.

If you want a different vibe, the color can be customized with available acrylic colors, with pricing based on material.

Need a set? Upgrade to a matching bottle opener or corkscrew for an additional fee.

Couldn’t wait any longer to get something made with “Pastel Dream”. And it did not disappoint on this keychain pen.

There is one piece of this left approximately 3” long and it already has a hole in the center for most any of our keychain kits or other kits that have the same center size.

A trek was made to the toy store today.
Oops — that dang autocorrect again.
I meant woodworker’s supply, obviously.

Why does this matter? Oh, for several reasons.

Reason 1 — the important one:
We came home with some way cool stuff to make some way cooler stuff.

Reason 2 — the honest one:
Materials are expensive. Painfully expensive.
Most of what leaves the shop is priced without labor just to keep things affordable — and even then, the raw materials alone often cost more than those “cheaper online” items people like to mention. Sure, that mass‑produced, mystery‑material, third‑world factory special is totally comparable to handcrafted work made from quality stock. Absolutely. Definitely. For sure.

Take these pieces of Purpleheart.
They’re about five bucks each — not terrible… until you realize they’re roughly the size of that wooden ruler you had in school.
Could we buy a big board and cut our own? Sure.
But imagine the price of the big board… and then imagine how much of it turns into sawdust.

There are big plans brewing for the Purpleheart, African Mahogany, and Maple.
Acrylic experiments are on deck too.
And yes, there were a few other goodies in the haul — but they’re being a little camera‑shy at the moment.

Stay tuned. The fun stuff is just getting started.

‼️Fresh Drop‼️

“Thorn Crystal” is one of those pieces the camera just can’t keep up with — the pictures don’t even come close.

Acrylic swirls of green, gold, white, and deep earth tones twist together like something grown, not made. Smooth, glossy, and full of motion, it looks different every time you turn it in your hand — sharp in shape, soft in color, and alive with that marbled, crystalline chaos.

It’s the kind of ring that refuses to sit still, and honestly? That’s the magic.

It’s been a minute since we’ve shared an oops.
Not because things have been running in flawless perfection — trust me, the oopses are alive and well — but every so often one of those ugly ducklings decides to glow up anyway.

This flubb earned the name Blue Arc thanks to the wild, erratic glow pattern along the inlay’s edge — the kind of randomness I’m not sure I could recreate on purpose.

And honestly? Blue Arc walks in like it already knows it’s the coolest thing here.

A streak of sapphire through steel, catching light and sending it back as a soft blue glow.
Simple. Sharp. Unmistakably alive.

The plan was to save a red‑white‑and‑blue piece for the 250th… but this one turned out too good to hide for two months. So you’re getting it early. But do not worry, there will be more as we close in on 250!

Whether you indulge in the same vices as a few of the Founding Fathers or just appreciate a well‑made tool, this XL Standard Bowl Pipe brings some patriotic style to the ritual.

At its core: brass pipes nested inside red, white, and blue acrylic, matched with aluminum sections for a smooth, consistent draw. It fully disassembles for easy cleaning or compact storage, and it includes two bowl filters right out of the gate.

One does not simply place a much‑needed supply order without wandering off into the land of other irresistible goodies — it’s practically a shop law at this point.

And in this particular round of treasure‑hunting, someone may or may not have snagged a handful of wood dyes in outrageously vibrant colors.

Experiments will commence soon. Very soon.
If this stuff clings to wood the way it’s clung to everything else it’s touched during “testing,” these colors might outlive us all.

It’s storm season — so obviously it’s time to drop a ring that looks like the weather finally snapped.

“Rainbow Magic”

Acrylic chaos in its purest form: storm‑gray churn, electric red strikes, teal flashes, and gold sparks all colliding like a pocket‑sized lightning show you can wear. Glossy, bold, and absolutely unapologetic — a little weather event for your hand.
