Hot take(literally): if you’ve stepped outside anytime this past week, you already know the weather is doing its best impression of ghost‑pepper sauce on a habanero chip with a Carolina Reaper sprinkle — the kind of heat that tries to mummify you from the inside out with every breath.
So yeah… shop time has been extremely limited, and it’s gonna stay that way until the air stops acting like an oven that’s been on broil for far too long.
But here’s the twist: I’ve been resisting the urge to drag the supplies for this upcoming item into the shop for literal years. I said I would never, but since expanding the lathe this might be a more feasible project. And in the spirit of always keeping something new on the horizon, I finally caved. The materials are ordered and the outside temps need to cool off, so it’s going to be a minute — but whatever you gotta do to stay tuned, do it, because this one is absolutely going to be something worth writing home about.
In the meantime, here’s the last masterpiece to roll out of the shop: a Bocote wood inlay ring with a blue opal inlay. This one was made with supplies strictly from our friends and Rockler Woodworking and Hardware.
