These little salt cellars have probably become one of my more favorite things to throw. It’s been so fun experimenting with different glazes and then trying to match them with a wood that compliments it for the lid. The green glazed I used for this cellar here has some really nice brown undertones which I thought paired really nicely with the lighter, browner tones of ambrosia maple and the small ambrosia marking on the top just makes. This is the last one available from my last batch of work which is also available on Etsy but I am hoping here soon to have a few more finished! Going to try here soon to mix up the designs a little bit and experiment with something different!

Just wanted to share this bowl I recently finished that was turned from some absolutely beautiful maple. The spalting throughout this wood is something else and it’s something I never get tired of seeing and also working with! This bowl was turned sometime around March I believe and has been sitting dry for a while now. About two weeks ago after working through some utensils, I finally made some time to actually get some bowls sanded and finished and this one was at the top of my list. So I have a few more to share along with this one here soon! If interested, this bowl and a few other new ones are now on Etsy.

Didn’t realize it had been over two months since I last posted but sometimes a social media detox is a good thing! Just thought I’d pop on here and share a new salad bowl server set that I recently finished up. It’s a 9.5 small salad bowl that I paired with some 10” salad servers made from cherry. Figured the cherry tone matched the turquoise glaze really well! Also just a heads up that most likely for the remainder of the year, all new items will be posted to my Etsy page. I am currently in the process of switching over my hosting for my website and rather than put more work on there, I’d just stick to my Etsy. Just a little fyi for those that may look for new work! With that said, I’ve actually posted a lot of new work over there recently, some new ceramics, new bowls, utensils, really a little bit of everything! Anyways, now that the holidays are coming up which is crazy to be saying already, no more social media detox, I guess it’s time to start posting again…. 😅

Figured it was time for a little update about my pottery journey since it’s been a while and I recently achieved one of my biggest goals so I thought it would be the perfect time to share! So when I decided I wanted ceramics to be a part of my work with Carolina Grain, I had a set of specific items I wanted to be able to make that I thought just made sense; things that naturally go with CG and one of those items being salad bowls. After haven’t thrown for the past month, I finally sat down at the wheel the other day and was determined to throw one. Bowls that have a larger diameter have been challenging for me since I started. I could throw a nice little snack or fruit bowl but I’ve never been able to really do anything more than that so I thought since it’s been a while since I’ve thrown, let’s just go for it, it’s been looming over me this entire time anyways so why not!

Well I’m happy to share that not only was I able to get one salad bowl but four! Three of them around 11.5” diameter and this one shown here which came in around 13” and so far is the biggest bowl I’ve thrown. Safe to say I am thrilled and cannot wait to glaze these and also make some nice salad servers to go with them! This was a much needed confidence boost for me and I already have some more clay wedged out to try and throw more tomorrow. I guess now my next goal is a bowl around 16” diameter, I mean if I can turn one from wood then I should be able to throw one right?! 😅Pictures of the four salad bowls will be shared as soon as they are fired!

These scrapers are 3.5” x 5.5” and will be available in Cherry, maple and black walnut but should have some more unique ones here soon… This one is for all you sourdough folks! 😆

It’s almost time for the update! Just wanted to share one small change before everything goes live. In the past I have always kept everything on one single “Shop” page, however now when you click on the shop link, it will take you to a page where you have two options - the “Featured” collection and the “Workshop” collection. The featured collection is where the items from the monthly updates will be like today and the workshop collection is where all the items that I consistently make will be like my cherry, maple and walnut utensils. I made this change so that way my monthly updates wouldn’t get lost in the shuffle of my other work and it seemed like a better way to organize it. Just a reminder that this bowl and more new work will be available at 10 this morning! 😁

I’m not entirely sure why but since taking up pottery, pitcher / mixing bowls have been something I’ve been very interested in throwing. So I’m excited to share with yall my very first attempt at making one! This pitcher bowl started out as just trying to throw a fruit bowl, however once I finished it, it seemed like the perfect size for a smaller mixing bowl so I figured I’d give it a shot. I absolutely love how it came out but the ONE thing I think I will do differently in the future is make the handle just slightly larger but even with that, I’d say it’s pretty good for a first attempt! Either way, seeing this piece fired and finished has me excited to throw more of these but yall will have to let me know what you think of it!

Probably my favorite pot from my latest batch of lidded jars I shared last week. For the first few, I wanted to keep things smaller since I was aiming more for actual salt cellars but as I got more comfortable with my throwing, I decided to go just a little bigger! Guess this is more along the lines of a coffee canister or if you’re me, a nerds clusters canister… 😂 Also I love the contrast of the turquoise glaze with the cherry lid, I think the colors really complement each other. Anyways, Let me know what you’d stash away in this jar! This one and the many others shown in my last post will be available this Friday at 10!
